Actually he's a nice guy who cracked some batarian heads on Omega before being recruited by Anderson to watch over Shepard as he was being brought to Earth. As I take it, James seems to admire Shepard, but I certainly hope it's not in the gay way other people are implying cause hell no! No offense, but if there's homosexuality in ME3, I'd rather it be girl Shep on girl squadmate... hmmm personal preference if you will..
