First: Happy Hoildays, everyone.
Second: Great book, Mr. Gaider!
The Meat: Just finished the book. Anyone else think Cole is likely to figure in to future events? Rhys almost certainly will be a figure of some importance, and if we operate on the assumption that Cole hasn't lost his feelings of friendship to Rhys now that his nature has been revealed (Cole's, that is) then he might be hanging around in the same area our as Wynne's son.
Hm. Question. Do we think that Cole went back across the Veil after Lord Lambert made it clear to him that he was in fact a spirit? In which case he came BACK across it to have his...chat...with the Seeker. Maybe he just discorparated or soemthing, since that is supposed to be impossible? Then again, it gets made pretty clear that what the world *thinks* is certain about mages, magic, and the spirits that live in it is as much assumption as actual fact. So.
Also. I was actually rather pleased to see that Anders actions in Kirkwall are not, in fact, completely responsible for the state of the world that Cassandra and Varric allude to in their dialogues. Anders certainly lit the fire, but the inferno came from the reactions to it. It could have been averted. Idiots on both sides are the reasons it instead flared in to war.

I belive and hope that he will play a part, dont really know how important but we never should forget about demons and spirits beyond the veil, because they are one of the most, if not the most important parts of DA universe.
I belive that Cole is not in fact Demon, i think that if a spirit that is bound to a certain ideal (valor, justice) feels person in our world is stron enough in his representation of the spirit, he will seek him out and try to help him/join him, It happened with Wynne and her spirit of life? Hope?
I belive that as Cole was crying alone in the cell, forgotten even by the people who put him there, a spirit of compassion maybe? found him and wanted to help him, but got overwhelmed by Coles feelings so they got completely mixed together, he was a real person once and he still sort of is. Not a demon, not a spirit, not a person, but a crossover of latter two. Very compelling character in a very good book. It would be a shame to leave him alone.

If he is a spirit he is a spirit of Mercy warped by Cole's fear kinda like Justice was warped by Anders' hate. See how he kids himself into believing his victims WANT to die? Smacks of mercy gone wrong. Though I like the idea of demon with a conscience more. I've always thought demons were awfully tragic. I just wanna hug those guys.
