SPOILER?

I'm at the part where Tela and Shepard are heading to the Dracon building. In the beginning cut scene, before the car lands, the game freezes and it gives me a disc read error message. I've tried restarting my Xbox, deleting the Cerberus Armor DLC, clearing cache, and tried cleaning the disc itself but to no avail.

I'm holding off on redownloading LotsB since my internet is hella slow and that would take a metric sh*t ton of time to complete. Maybe there are other solutions I can try. I've heard other people have had this problem but there's no silver bullet for it apparently. And... there's no patch for this yet?

DLC's downloaded:
Firepower
Aegis
Zaeed
Kasumi
Normandy Crash Site

Thanks.

EDIT: BTW I don't have ME2 installed because I don't have enough space for it.

As you mentioned there is no silver bullet.

With the dlcs I highly doubt that the disc itself is the problem (after all the data required is on your storage device). The only other relevant thing you could try is removing your storage device and reconnecting it again to see if it is merely a connection thing.

This is Microsoft's official suggestions, most of which seems irrelevant to your case.

Redownload as a last resort if your connection is slow. (Though sometimes I suspect it's a storage device problem as a worst case scenario.)

ok heres what ive done so far since last post:

redownloaded lotsb
deleted and redownloaded firepower and aegis
transferred everything to a new flash drive and took out the old one

AND IT STILL GIVES ME THE ERROR

after redownloading lotsb however, i was able to get passed the part where it was crashing before. but now crashes where the dead employee is near the stairs.. before i could turn left the error pops up.

idk wtf to do now. spent money on this dlc and i cant even play it. the worst part is the only back up i have is about 2-3 hours of gameplay behind -__- i can revert back to that and play from there i just have to stay away from activating lotsb then. but STILL damit i paid for it.

i wonder if its fixable via patch, if it is then why havent they done anything yet.

Seeing how old the game is getting now and with the release of ME3 getting ever nearer I suspect a new patch is unlikely. That is not to say it won't happen, but then I'm a pessimist on this sort of thing. I would also guess that for a patch to be made the issue has to be very prevalent for the majority of players, or considered game breaking in some sense. If only a few are effected it seems to rule out the possibility of the issue being the game itself.

I don't think the error message you are getting would be thought of as a game issue as such and is likely to be seen as a hardware issue. Do try EA support but be aware that the quality and/or knowledge of the person dealing with your case may be limited. I would also suggest seeing if Microsoft has any other possible solutions as well.

Additional: some think that disc read error messages might be due to corrupt saves. Along that line of thought, have you any other save games where you can access LotSB to see if the message occurs there as well?

Try using the other disk. I had the same with LotSB and all I had to do with switch disks.

@OBakaSama

yeah it seems that only a handful of people are getting the problem, although some people experience it during the overlord dlc as well. and this error problem has been around for a year or so, so i just thought they wouldve done something about it already. and as far as corrupt saves go, i have a backup thats about 2-3 hours behind my current one. i made it cuz i was testing out a new build for my soldier. but since my current one is getting the error message and i cant even get out of the lotsb area, i just reloaded the backup and trying to play up to the start of lotsb. ill create another backup before activating it i guess. keeping my fingers crossed.

im most upset about the fact that i paid money for it and i cant even play it. money comes and goes, true, but still =/ and alotta people say its better than the actual game lol.. thats why i wanted to see it for myself!

@applehug

yeah man tried that.. no avail =/

EDIT: when i made the backup the first time, the only thing i did differently was the reset points research. i HOPE thats not what causes the error because i did it again for this save lol.

I've seen a few similar problems for Dragon Age: Origins as well, so it's not new as such. The only other possibility I can think of is that the actual download itself is corrupted. That's a longshot but still possible at time.

I haven't heard about using the points research thing causing a problem, but such things are hard to say from personal experience.

youre right. the problem with this issue is that there's a million different things that could trigger it and at the same time there's a million different remedies for it. some say they crash after shepard says "a spectre?", others crash right when entering liara's apartment lol

if the problem is the actual download and ive deleted and redownloaded it, then thats not the issue then i hope?

SUCCESS! I GOT IT TO WORK!

i redownloaded it a second time and this time it pulled through! i figured if the first redownload pushed the error further, maybe another redownload will do better, and it did!

thanks for the help OBakaSama and applehug. now im contemplating whether or not i should get overlord and arrival

Ah...good to hear (always nice to hear people getting their game working).

Arrival feels more integral to the story leading into ME3. Gameplay is different though in a sense but is interesting.

Overlord is quite nice as far as I'm concerned but whether it will have an effect in ME3 remains to be seen. Also more Hammerhead if you like that.

i know im getting out of topic here especially for this forum but how long is arrival and overlord each? i played 90% of lotsb as hardcore and it lasted a little over 2 hours for me as a soldier. and as far as the hammerhead goes ive never tried it but im 100% confident that ANYTHING in this game is better than the MAKO... i hated that thing with a passion. when i saw it at the normandy crash site i was the happiest guy in the world.

Never timed them myself as it never occurred to me to do so. Overlord feels more...full if that makes any sense. Depending how you play that I think Overlord's running time is longer that LotSB, because there is some exploring to do and the action is more varied. Arrival is like LotSB in that you are essentially railroaded from A to B.
