Hi I just got a new xbox 360 for Christmas and decided with ME3 coming out soon, I thought I might as well make some new saves in ME2 for it. I transfered my ME saves over to my new xbox but ran into problems with it not recognising that the save is there. I've heard of people having this problem before and they had to beat the game again. I really don't want to do this plus the fact I no longer own ME makes this issue even more troublesome. Help will be most obliged.

I live in Australia and almost the same problem. I cant import me freaken Mass Effect 1 game save except I went ahead and played through the ending anyway again with no improvement. Sux x1000. I started this teadious process at 2pm and its 5:50pm now. I'm going to try and start a new game with my Mass Effect 1 save in Mass Effect 1 and save it at the begginning and see if that helps? If it does work it will mean you either need to do the same (should not have to if they had act together) or buy their special DLC to allow you to make the same choices from Mass 1 and have it reflect on Mass 2. This isnt an option for me as I spent 125 hours and 22min on the 1st game and am level 60

tried to start again on Mass Effect 1 and the "re-use game data" option was not there? even after finishing it several times to save the council and kill Sovereign. So did it again online and the option was made availible. Then I started the game, waited n skipped through the beginning and saved where I could straight away and exited. Then I put in Mass Effect 2 and then it said "sign occurance has changed. Please sign out and continue". Did that. Then used import function and what da ya know -presto its there? I was ready to pop a fuse. I may have even asked for my deposit back on the Collector Edition 3 if that didn't work. So sorry dude, you will have to go and hire, buy or borrow Mass Effect 1. Good thing its only a few dollars now. Bad thing is you cant play with your save today and I know how that feels.

Desgax: ME1 uses a hidden save file for the import you need to make. Seeing you transferred your previous saves from the old HDD to the new one (I assume anyway) that means that the hidden save wasn't transferred. As far as I am aware you'll have to access the previous save to replay the fight against Saren to generate the import file you'll need to use in ME2.

I was aware that there might be a hidden save file so I did transfer the entire ME folder over including the ME2 Import file that is created when you import a save file from ME. Simply redoing the Saren battle is troublesome due to, as stated in my original post, I no longer own ME1. I suppose I could head over to Gamestop and pick up a copy, then return it upon completion because I was going to put more money on ME3 anyway and I can use the return money for just that.

Ah whoops, missed the bit about not owning the game any more; so that pretty much ends any real contribution I can make.

Is rental a possibility?

I thought of that but ME1 has been around a while so most game rental places nearby do not offer it but I'm heading to gamestop tomorrow and I know the guys there so I'm sure I can return it if I "don't like it" lol

I did the above and it fixed my problem so this is closed.
