I got NWN2 a few days ago, but I'm not managing to find a character creator like there was for NWN1 'Pretty Good Character Creator' it was called, great tool.
Most modules ask for a character of a certain level... I don't even know how to get started! Googling returned a couple of things, but not quite a NWN2 equivalent of the NWN1 tool I remember. Does one exist, or not?

Anyway, most of those modules asking for a certain level usually level you up at the start.

Thanks! I had in the meantime found Vordan's one, which was exactly what I was looking for, it does the job.

I had only downloaded one module, 'The Maimed God' or something it was called, and I didn't get automatically level me up.

An easier way to quickly level up is to do the following:

press the ` key.

Type "debugmode 1"

type "givexp" followed by the amount of xp you need, then press enter. 

type "debugmode 0"

This will give you as much XP as you want.

He still needs a place to level up - Vordans is good for that because it is an 'in game' trainer - then you simply "export" your new build.
