I'm happy that my suggestions helped you to win :o) Horizon can seem scary the first time you play it but like all missions it can be tamed with observation and practice and easily beaten with the right approach.

I never found any Collector mission particularly scary to be honest... They all do the fire-dance, and Harbie is a minor annoyance at best if you keep your distance/CC him properly. (Or y'know...Flashbang. :P)

Now, LOKI mechs on the other hand...All of my hate. ALL OF MY HATE. Even with Incineration Blast and Pull-field those sons of ******* keep on killing me like it ain't no thing.

I also share the dislike for Loki. Did thane rm yesterday. Loki had one pixel of health left and kept advancing and shooting my shields off, after incinerate and warp. Those mechanical dogs are a close second.

Loki's are a lot more dangerous than they appear to be. Their Shuriken's just waste your shields in no time. And they are fearless.

As for Collector Missions... on my first playthrough I would say they were the hardest. I didn't have any of the DLC downloaded (not even the Cerberus stuff) and I didn't know what I was doing. After you get the hang of it, the they do become a lot easier.

Yeah LOKI's are a bit of a menace but at least they move slowly and toward you so they're easy to shoot at. I did that N7 mission trilogy on Monday evening - the one about the faulty CPUs. Part one is where you land amid the sand storm and there's an almost endless army of LOKIs attacking you. Me and the squad took a bit of a battering there and it was very annoying. I got to about 50 yards from the shuttle, took some cover to kill the closest mechs and let my shields regen, and then hit Adreneline rush and legged it to the shuttle! The 3rd part of the mission trilogy is that awful mech factory. That can be quite tricky but I know how it works now and the cover spots you can use for safety. I also find Tali's AI Hacking quite handy there and Mordin with his quick reset Cryo blast. But yes, those dumb mechs are more deadly than you'd give credit for. The ones I hate the most though have got to the YMIRs, especially that mission with the 20 crates and the blue suns base.

When Horizon was the next mission up in my very first playthrough I was very nervous about starting it to be honest. I got through it fairly well but as I didn't know what to expect and as I was still unsure about the various weapons, powers and squad mates I felt quite scared at meeting the main enemies of the game for the first time.

Horizon (Defense Tower area) and the Collector Ship platforms are probably the two toughest fights you will encounter the first time you play the game. Freedom's Progress on New Game+ can be surprisingly challenging at times (no upgrades at level 30; LOKI mechs are at their most dangerous).

I never found LOKI mechs all that difficult until my Claymore Soldier playthrough. I now have a healthy respect--and disdain--for LOKI mechs. They are absolute killers at close quarters.

And is it just me, or are the Suicide Mission Scions attacks easier to dodge than the Scions on Horizon and Disabled Collector Ship?

The platforms on the suicide mission are far far easier than the platforms encountered on the DCS. And the scion seems to be more docile on the long walk too. So it's not just you. Now the husks on the suicide mission are awkward as you can't leave the bubble and have no room to move about.

Yeah, I had played through once before and got a bit battered on that level, mainly by the Praetorian as I guess I panicked too much when I saw how powerful it's shockwave attack was and kept trying to go into cover which is the wrong thing to do.

Because of that I was apprehensive this time around as I only ever did the one playthrough and that was a few months ago, but now I know what I'm doing it wasn't that difficult. I had to revive my squadmates a couple of times, but I didn't even die once.

The 1 point in cryo ammo was fantastic against the husks - I used that on my pistol and then warp ammo on my sniper and locust.

I like going to the cover on the left and
unleashing everything on one scion using a heavy weapon (I prefer the
Particle beam in this fight). Usually your squadmates should be able to
do take down the husks, give them a hand if needed. I tried shooting one
of the scions before entering the room, it did nothing btw. Once one
scion and the initial husk rush is over, the second one should be close
to stairs. Use the other set to keep at the other end of the platform
and kill it quickly.

I camped out there at the start of the fight too;however once I activated the defence towers I moved as I remember staying there before and not realising that husks came right behind you.

They can be quite tricky; on lower levels they are easy as they don't have armour so you can just unleash biotics on them, but on hardcore or insanity their armour seems to take longer to strip than say the shields of a Blue Sun plus as you say they take down your shields quickly and don't pause to take cover.

The Hahne-Kadar assignment is especially tricky as they constantly re-spawn and swarm you in the close confines of the level (unless you're an infiltrator, cloak and quickly run to the end to stop the respawns)

I did a video of some N7's and used Hahne-Kedar as the end... I took Mordin and Jack to have some fun with it. I agree, if you can get Loki's down to health then you can take them out with powers. Many times ragdolling them will cause a limb or two to come off.

Eh? I don't think I've ever had husks spawn right on top of me there. Unless I left the planform, then they'll spawn. Camping on a spawn point reduces the number of enemies you face.

The Hahne-Kedar facility has one tricky bit for me- that initial u-turn around the corner right at the start of the factory floor. Get around that and the rest is a cakewalk- I think I prefer Mordin and Tali for that one. Burn armor, hack mech, shoot all other mechs while they shoot hacked mech.
