Alistair did not come across as charming to me but rather as an emotionally and intellectually stunted individual. I suppose I should feel sorry for him, after all, he was locked up in the Chantry for most of his childhood and teenage years.  Half the time I was expecting him to blurt out something inane like "boobies!" 

The coup de grace was when one of my characters turned Alistair's tent romp offer down.  My character wanted to wait, there is a  war going on, no time for ushering the virginal Alistair into manhood. Plus the whole tent thing honestly sounded awfully sleazy.  Anyway, I can't remember the exact line but he said something like "I guess I understand..." then proceeded to pout. Typical little boy who didn't get a chance to play with his toy.  Had he been a true gentleman he would have understood and my character would not have lost favor in his eyes.  It made me laugh when I retconned and I had my PC sleep with him.  He was happy as can be and just as noncommittal.   I wish there had been the following dialog option: "If you liked it then you should have put a ring on it."

I've never actually done Alistair's romance so I don't know about that, but I think somewhere from 20-30. Oh, and because of that last line, I now want you to die horribly.

He seemed a bit young to me- I was thinking mid-20's. I don't think I'd put him in to the 30's.

He can't be any older than 28 or 29, since Maric only became king thirty years prior to DAO.

My guess would be early 20s, with Cailan in his mid to (barely) late 20s.

Is he a few years older than Cailan? I remember a story he tells about Cailan visiting Redcliffe as a young kid.

I think of him as 23. He is about as emotionally developed as some guys I know at that age (some are more mature of course) but he reminds me of a classmate of mine so ya.

23 sounds close enough, but he's almost as socially inept as Morrigan... just in a different way.

think alot of ppl really didnt get Alistair, most of his whining was satyrical......u can tell this by his massively self effacing attitude, he really isnt overly immature but he would have u beleive he was.

this is why i think hes one of the greatest characters Bioware have ever made and certainly trumps Kaiden/Carth

23-24 sounds about right. I really don't mind his whining, I feel it's actually pretty much expected from someone in his position. Also I find him hilarious. My type of humor.

I liked him as a character. There is so much crap he has to deal with.

Grey Wardens being wiped out, responsibility for beating the Darkspawn, being a bastard child of the king, sent away by Maric/Eamon, losing Duncan, put forward as the heir to the throne, solving problems to gain treaty support, growing up in a chantry, being tainted and being in a party with crazy companions.

Yet he can still find humour in the situation and is not overwhelmed by it.

I loved Alistair, and thought he was a pretty deep character actually. Really funny, too.

I forgot about that. He was very quiet till we got to Lothering and Morrigan teased him about it.

I think he momentarily loses it at Redcliffe and Landsmeet as well.

But generally I like that he is not the whiny guy with issues. He sometimes gets upset but usually gets over it.

Sarcastic? Most people get sarcasm, and it is considered an immature trait (at least according to people I meet). But the second I agree on, like him more than Kaidan/Carth.
