Anyone knows who owns the rights to the Planescape setting?

It's part of DnD. I doubt EA will allow anything other than their own IPs or a new one.

I'd like to see a rpg with an impending end of the world in a modern setting or something with Egyptian mythology or the dawn of civilization.

I'd like to see something either from steampunk or from cyberpunk. I like both settings.

What theme would you want to see Bioware bring to life in their next  series(provided they don't go sequel/prequel heavy and wear the current ip's out)? They have already tackled Sci-fi and Fantasy. Now they are doing real world based game with C&C, which from what I gather from the gaming community is a big let down. What should be next?

I personally would like to see Bioware takle the ancient Greek or Roman times. A game full of Greek Mythology, Gods, Goddesses, Mythological Creatures, Wars, and so on. The overall story and characters are all there.  All it needs is a Bioware spin on things, a well developed and original story, character creation of course, and a non-linear gameplay style that changes with your actions.

I'd definately like a conspiracy based cyberpunkish RPG simmilar to Human Revolution.

Does C&C really count as a Bioware game? I mean sure Bioware are overseeing the development however it is still the same team that developed the last Generals game isnt it? As far as I can see this is just a thinly veiled marketing ploy by EA to drum up interest in their products by slapping the Bioware name on the side, I mean in all honesty EA should have just played this at the Spike VGA awards and thrown in a bit more of this for good measure, EA you really trolled us good.

But as for what Bioware is working on next I would assume that the Dragon Age team is hard at work trying to make DA3 the next Skyrim however as for what the Mass Effect team is working on after ME3 I am unsure. Most likely Mass Effect 4 or some sort of Mass Effect spin off like "Garrus Vakarian: PI" or "Kasumi loves Jacob" but who really knows?

What I personally would love to see however is a mix of Cyberpunk and Flim Noir in a futuristic shooter with gameplay elements that borrow heavily from games like Deus Ex.

Pretty much this but with a dark theme to it as well. There seems to be a lack of such games.

Interesting themes. I see a bunch are leaning toward Cyberpunk & Steampunk. Not one for a post apocalyptic setting. I guess those have been done to death as of recent. lol

I would also buy a game if they did survival horror. Bioware presents 28 days later. Level up your sneakers and try to outrun rage victims.

I think they could pull it off. The problem would be how can they set it apart from a game like Deus Ex.

Yeah, C&C was definitely the most underwhelming announcement of the show.

Deus Ex did plenty of things right minus the boss battles and the yellow tint to everything.  I especially like how it went from cyberpunk/action/shooter/rpg to horror/action/shooter/rpg near the end.

Not sure if serious but yeah from a gameplay point of view I think they did a pretty good job in Human Revolution, however that being said the game really lost me in that final mission with the aug zombies, really put a sour taste in my mouth.

Ehh, i wouldn't even trust Bio doing a d&d game at this point.    I think they've shown that they're more into interactive movie type games with action-y gameplay.  DAO was an incline for them, but just a blip on the map, imo.

I'd rather Obsidian get the d&d licence, but the real questions are, will publishers actully fund a proper d&d game, or do they just want another sh***y action game #574892 with little to no RPG mechanics to sell to the masses ?   (i heard the South Park RPG is actually turn based ??  So maybe there is a glimmer of hope, in this regard)

And would they be forced to use the bs 4th edition ? (which is a bastardazation of real d&d)

Let's just say, don't get your hopes up.

If you enjoy tactical combat aspect of d&d games, do yourselfs a favor and check out Knights of the Chalice www.heroicfantasygames.com/   It's based upon the Open Game Licence 3.5 (OGL), the set of rules at the
root of the popular pen-and-paper role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons Edition 3.5

Also the new Temple of Elemental Evil Circle of 8 modpack (ver 7.0.0) just came out and there's a NC version too. (meaning new content)Posted Image

I like BG2 and the toolset and DM client for NWN. (wish they had one for ToEE)

EDIT:  I also like that they didn't try to appeal to the action/shooter types with DAO, and kept it somewhat traditonal, even if it was a far cry from BG2.  (a big part of that is their own IP vs d&d)

I'd like to see a (non-military) contemporary setting.

It requires a creative hook and/or well written story (and game mechanics) to not feel bland or boring. Moreso than fantasy since save the world/universe from the Archdemon/Reapers won't fly in a modern setting.

If BioWare pull it off, it'll be something amazing. If they don't, well that'll be a shame, but at least they tried something different.

This.

What I notice in most steampunk settings (not just games) is they forget about the whole punk thing and just go with a steam setting.

how about something bright and vibrant? Gears pretty much drained every available tone for grey and brown on the market, some color would be nice.

BioWare's games have plenty of colors. They don't need to be exagerrated.

What do people mean when they say "Dark" any more? I mean Bioware threw around the term "Dark Heroic Fantasy" like a frisbee when marketing the Dragon Age games but I still dont see what it is about the games that actually make them "Dark", I mean to me BG2 was far darker than anything Dragon Age had to offer, Origins just felt like your standard hero saves the world low fantasy setting, so what is really meant when people say dark? Low Fantasy? Colourless? Bland?

Dragon Age is not dark reguardless of what their terrible marketing team said. It's all high fantasy. Look at Witcher 2 for a dark fantasy rpg.

Even if it happened it would be a 4th edition rules set. :-(

Besides, now that EA is in charge I don't hold out much hope for future Bio RPGs.
