what if the person who "died" on virmire isn't really dead?

I'm just saying it's possible, not that it isn't stupid. If a ship on the enemy side could get to the bomb, they'd try to disarm it, not randomly abduct the soldier left bleeding out in front of it. Plus, it would be pretty unbelievable to pull a character we KNOW died back into the story at this point, especially when there's so much consequence for losing them already.

i don't think anyone can survive being nuke'd
Babylon 5 - Shadow enhanced humans survived ground Zero detonation of some 26 Super Nukes - thank goodness the Shadows and Reapers aren't allies.

I suspected that for ME2 the person you left behind on Virmire would turn out to be alive and be the main antagonist (or at least working for the Reapers). My theory was that the Collector's were secretly on Virmire and captured him/her at the last minute before the bomb blew. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that that was not the case and that the person left behind on Virmire was killed. I'm glad Bioware stuck to it and didn't pull a comic book resurrection. Resurrecting Shepard was tolerable. More than one resurrection, however, and I start losing immersion.
The funny thing is: I can't concur. I dislike the entire "kill Shepard & bring him back". It doesn't help anything and could have been done better. Why not using him/her as agent to infiltrate Cerberus? Why did Shepard have to die to become part of Cerberus? Or did s/he have to die to explain two full years lacking any preparation for a Reaper invasion?
To me, Shepard's death doesn't make much sense, not even for the drama.
And I'm kinda glad the VV (Virmire Victim) stays dead. I like Kaidan. But I would hate to see my decision "nullified" by some cheap plot twist.

Just kidding. The person left is dead and this isn't a comic book where people come back from the dead.

Shepard went face first into Alchera's snow so... but I'm pretty sure the Virmire non-Survivor non-survived & won't be Lazarused by the Reapers or any other organization.AgitatedLemon wrote...

Being decimated from a nuclear blast and falling into a planet's atmosphere are very different things.
Anything within a hundred or so kilometers of the blast will leave an outline of ash and char. The VS, sitting almost literally on top of the bomb, would practically phase out of existence the second it detonated.

I know that this subject has been discussed before, and I don't want to go too off-topic with it, but I can't help but think about it now. I understand Shepard's death and resurrection are important because two years have to pass in which Shepard is not alive. What I don't understand is why the writers didn't have him run back down into one of those stasis pods that were conveniently on the Normandy SR1 and never used. Lost in deep space in stasis, and found two years later when the Shadow Broker discovered the SOS from the pod (which may take a long time to get anywhere in space) would have made a lot more sense to me. Of course, Shepard is more indebted to Cerberus when they actually rebuild him rather than just opening his can. But couldn't two years in stasis damage the body to the extent Lazarus would still be needed?CptData wrote...

I guess I just went in a circle, but I think my point remains.

Well, if you' re like me, and watched the 'Leaked Mass Effect 3 Demo on YouTube. Without giving away any Spoilers or anything. The prologue wasn't bad.It was quite good actually... Well it was good if your Commander Shepard is Pro-Alliance.Mine... Not so much. The Demo sort of felt like it completely omits anything and everything that took place in Mass Effect 2. It as though, BioWare just released ME1 and the Arrival DLC and now we have ME3
You see Lieutenant Ashley Williams in the Demo and Admiral Anderson talks to Major Alenko over the phone.Which is sort of bizarre. What with one of these folks suppose to be - being dead and all.

That is a bug, you mean. Or simply a placeholder - that footage was unfinished, so maybe the dialogue wasn't finished recording either. Unlikely, but very possible. Keep in mind we weren't supposed to see that section yet.Changonauta wrote...
