Is it possible to keep both characters after the end of the game so I could use them in Mark of Assassin?
I noticed when Anders destroyed the Chantry, Sebastian wants to kill him. There are 2 options is to kill Anders and keep Sebastian, or let Anders live and Sebastian will leave the party.

no, the only way to keep Seb is to knife Anders. It's kind of the landsmeet situation in DAO.

:crying: I feel your pain.  My plan is to play all the way up to the Last Straw, then play all the DLC's.  I'll wait until the two other possible DLCs come out before I finish this particular playthrough completely, then I'll probably let Sebastian go since I can't kill Anders.  Just can't.

You could do it just prior to Last Straw. Playing them after the game (I did it on a couple characters) its just kind of anticlimatic. My usual preference is to play MotA not long after meeting King Alistair in Act 3 (so I can talk to Teagan and Dulci DeLauncet for extra lines), and I get additional lines for being Basalit-an. I've done Legacy in Act 3, and in Act 2 before All that Remains to get different perspectives on the final scene.

Of the two, Anders has more interesting lines in Legacy (being a Grey Warden), but I haven't played MotA enough to have taken him, I've only been through 3 times and I wanted to play through with Sibling + LI those times. And since I never romance Anders, he may never see playtime in MotA.

Since during Last Straw you must make a choice, one or the other, you could always create a save just before doing the quest and use that as your reference point to triggering the DLC?  That way you have all of the characters and can use it later when new DLC is released (It's what I do).

But that late in the game it's kind of jarring to me to be pulled out of the sequence to go do a sidequest.

Nothing super interesting in MOTA for Anders; he and Fenris bicker back and forth sometimes (it's significantly more light-hearted than their usual banter, though).  If he's your LI, he says something pretty funny, too.  But otherwise, that's it.

MOTA is the Tallis song and dance routine after all :P  All other Companions are forced to take a back seat...

Yea I kinda figured.  So far I liked Issa's comments best of the three I've done, but yea it's definitely Tallis's show there.  Even Hawke takes shotgun.  Though being Basalit-an helps ease some of that.

motomotogirl, have you gotten the ' in chains' line in MOTA? With Anders and Hawke.

Spoiler

Do what you must for role playing- and import reasons. Some files i kill Anders, some i don't. In one i even let him go and took him back once in the gallows prison. Personally i prefer killing him because my Hawke's either can't forgive his actions or view it as a mercy.
That and Seb's just cool.

I think i have three out of all my save files with a living Anders and only one is a romance.

To be honest the DLC work much better and make more sense before the end of the game. If you are a mage supporter then there is absolutely no reason why you would have been invited to Duke Prosper's shindig after the events of Last Straw. Theoretically Legacy could account for where Hawke disappeared off to at the end but really both fit much better in either Act 2 or Act 3. I think I prefer playing Legacy after the death of Leandra because there is more poignancy at the end of the DLC. MoA fits well in Act 2 because of the link with the Qunari situation in the city. However, if you have got as far as Last Straw, then definitely make a save to use for the DLCs both now and in the future. Also if you play them before the final events you get some useful items to use, whereas if you play at the end you have no use for them (until further DLC are issued).

I actually found Anders good to have along in MoA simply because he does try and confront Tallis over the Qunari attitude to mages and also if you abandon her, you get some nice dialogue with him on the stroll back down the mountain. The most disappointing character in MoA is Merrill. I have just been through with her as my LI and her dialogue is very tame and shows no concern whatsoever about my separation from her and imprisonment, unlike Fenris who is touchingly worried and relieved to have Hawke back. Fenris is actually good with both Sebastian and Bethany with regard to his dialogue. Isabella and Averline both feature in MoA but the problem I find is that with Tallis already a dual wielder, I have little use for Isabella as well, particularly if Hawke is a rogue. And if Fenris is your love interest, then he will make for a natural tank, so the last spot will best be filled by either Anders (to get the healing if Hawke is not a mage) or a ranged weapon expert (Varric or Sebastian). So really taking Isabella and Averline only works if the former is your LI and Hawke is a mage.

I did!  I laughed so hard LOLOL  Anders is a kinky bastard for sure.  My Hawke loved it though. :P

motomotogirl, must be left over from the days when he was fun!

Seb bothers me. He's really wishy-washy. His character had promise that was never played out. IMO

A lot of text I'm not going to repost.

I actually always thought that MotA made the mosrt sense in Act 1. Short of getting money for that Jewel i can't really imagine Hawke ever agreeing to such a risky mission, and outside that Act, Hawke doesn't need money.

Legacy fits well enough in all acts. I prefer to play it while Leandra is still alive in Act 2.

Speaking of Seb and Anders though, Anders has the BEST banter with Sebby ... when he asks Seb why he has Andraste's face on his crotch

And THAT is the Anders I fell in love with! I also love the Seb -Isabela banter:

Seb: I used to be just like you...

Izzy: You were a woman? That explains a lot of things.

I do love Seb's accent tho :)

Is no one annoyed by Tallis at all? I'm not bashing her per se- I enjoy The Guild, I like Felicia Day, I just thought Tallis was a weak character, idk.

I agree with others that MotA is better played in Act 2 or before, but that's just my preference. I hate that I can't ever have Sebastian in my end game because I refuse to ever ever kill Anders lol.

Yeah ..... I hate Tallis lol I know those are strong words.  But hey, I've played MOTA, umm ... three times now?  Maybe four.  And I like her less and less each time.  But what I hate most about her is that she booted two of my companions out of the picture for a majority of the story line.  Not cool, beotch.  Not cool.

Also, Felicia Day seems like a total sweetheart, but I did not like her VAing.  It sounded like she was reading lines.  I don't mind that Tallis was quite dorky; sarcastic Hawke is also dorky.  Hell, they're all a bit dorky sometimes lol But yeah.

Tallis was just all "LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME! I CAN JUMP 50 FEET STRAIGHT UP INTO THE AIR!"  I mean, not literally, but ... well, actually, yeah, she did literally do that.  Like, three times.

I ask myself sometimes, though, if Tallis were a hot BOY elf who could jump 50 feet straight up into the air, would I still dislike her/him?  I'm too ashamed to reveal the answer to that question.

Woah buddy- you're a brave one! I refrain from saying hate about any character, really due to my low level of cajones, I know how these Bioware forums work. Every character has an entire lynch mob ready to go with tar, feathers and pitchforks at the ready lol.

Agreed completely about Tallis- my immersion was totally bent having Felica Day Guild her way through my DLC and 86'ing my romanced Fenris and my unrequited Anders was a serious blow to my fun times for most of it. I wanted to see my hot men party- not my cutesy elf girl side kick.

It's a good thing that Bioware didn't include any flirting between Tallis and the rest of your party..I would have been postal about my people flirting with The New Girl in School..you know, meanwhile I'm slaving away at all of their personal quests Image IPB

Hahaha I know; I shouldn't have said that.  But I know there are people on this forum who say they hate Fenris; I just smile and look the other way.  Those people are inevitably male and straight, so it's all good.  I'm amazed at BW's ability to create so many different characters that appeal to so many different people.  Tallis has her fans, and that's totally fine and great!

She didn't kill MOTA for me; I don't mind having characters I don't like ... it's just that my two companions (like you said) were booted from the quest for about 50% of the time.  That just made me sad =\\

As I've said before: why would Prosper invite a penniless refugee nobody to his party? To me MotA makes most sense in act 3, when Hawke is a Qunari-bashing Champion.

Well also in Act 3 you get to speak to Teagan (if you have the King Alistair cameo) and Leliana (if you have done Sebastian's Faith quest) so it makes more sense to me if its done in Act 3, and they can recognize you at the party. Kind of jarring to meet them at their cameos in Act 3 and them not recognize you at all. Plus being Basalit-an adds a few lines to the DLC also. And every one calls you 'The Champion of Kirkwall'.

I didn't mind Tallis that much, she's only around for about an hour or two of the total game. My only issue with her is it looks like they tried (and failed) to make her look like Felicia Day and I think Felicia is a lot prettier than that. Her lips looked all dried out, her eyes were scrunchy/wrinkly and her chin was too close to her mouth, making her face look square and the features flattened.

He wouldn't, but he "would" invite the Heir to the formerly glorious Amells, you gotta figure that more nobels would be curious as to why those people suddenly come back, short of fleeing the Darkspawn.

Tallis has a hate thread that's rather long somewhere on the forum. It's almost as long as Fenris' and a little longer than Isabela's. Image IPB

LOL- I absolutely adore how your main issue with her was how Bioware translated her face :).  I thought she looked decently rendered but obviously not perfect. I was mostly irritated by her VA- it sounded like Felicia Day being Felicia Day. Now I'm feeling guilty for saying that seeing as I'm a "fan" of hers on Goodreads lolol :P. She's great! I just didn't enjoy her elf character as much as I thought I would. I think MotA is not as good as Legacy likely.

The problem I find with justifying MoA in Act 1 is the actual invitation from Duke Prosper. The Orlesians are such snobs I couldn't invisage him sending a invitation to Gamlen's hovel even if Leandra was once a member of the nobility. Once Hawke has bought back the estate in Hightown and Leandra is looking up her old acquaintances, then it makes more sense that Prosper might extend an invitation. As for the motivation to assist Tallis, that always seemed a bit slim whatever act you do it in but at least when you find out what her real purpose is, the implications tie in better with the Qunari in the city and also explain why there are so many elves helping the Qunari at the end of Act 2 - clearly more than just the relatives of the two elven converts.
Mind you, if you let Emile have his night at the Hanged Man then Act 3 is hilarious for the conversation you have with his Mum. However, whilst MoA has some great comic moments, Tallis did nothing for me and I much preferred Legacy as a DLC.
