I like the looks of Sebastian's armor than Anders looks gay. But regards on usefulness, I prefer Anders because he has lots of supports party boost such as party heal, revive, haste, and more. Sebastian does not have enough AOE skill and party boost.

The armor looks gay? That's a very poor use of the English language.

I also find this ironic when it is Sebastian that has Andraste's face on his crotch.

My usual preference is to play MotA not long after meeting King Alistair in Act 3 (so I can talk to Teagan and Dulci DeLauncet for extra lines)...

Oooh! Thanks! I had no idea about these. I usually played MotA shortly after finishing most of the companion quests in Act 3, mainly to wrap up any romances and get those extra lines. Now I'll wait a bit longer.

Is it possible to keep both characters after the end of the game so I could use them in Mark of Assassin?
I noticed when Anders destroyed the Chantry, Sebastian wants to kill him. There are 2 options is to kill Anders and keep Sebastian, or let Anders live and Sebastian will leave the party.

Nope.

You can do it at the start of act 3 though and use both of them.

Insane or wishy washy religious zealot? Neither thank you. Now were there a way to stop Anders from destroying the chantry and aim him at the templar hall instead, after having warned the mages to get out on a specific night, then hands down Anders is the keeper.

Sebastian is just a preachy annoyance and Varric is a better archer with a better bow anyway.

Why target the templar hall? There's probably plenty of good templars there who went in hoping to simply protect the general populace.

by that logic he shouldnt have targetted the chantry either since there would be more innoncent people in there than the templar hall.

i think he should have led some sort of mage rebellion. they are pretty powerful. as if mages are not going to win the war agains the templars...then again i could be wrong.

Sebastian is a good friend to me and I don't see him as a zealot in any way.
Anders is 100% scum, so my choice is easy.

Sebastian is too much like my own father "Bow to my ideals of religion or you'll be cursed to eternal torment - do it, you are wicked and wrong if you don't" I do his quests for the xp and loot, and details it adds to the story but, unless it's required, i don't use him. I let Anders go, or even take Anders to the final battle just to get rid of him. Still can't get him to stay in the chantry while it blows up though - bummer.

Anders. Because I love him. And because he is healer.

I find it really hard to like Sebastian. He is the only companion who, even at 100% friendship (and even in a romance!) will refuse to support Hawke. His ideals are more important than his friendships and loyalties. In my opinion, that's a dangerous person and a cold person.

However, it's really more about the consequences of who you choose. If the choice were kill Sebastian or side with Anders, well, I would not KILL Sebastian, even though I like him less. But since the alternative to keeping Sebastian is killing a companion in cold blood, I just can't do it.

Grand Cleric Elthina was killed in that explosion,  a woman he had a great deal of love and respect for, so for him to want anything other than the man who killed her executed would seem silly.

Even if I say goodbye to Sebastian each time I agree. It would not make sense for his character to stay in the team at that point and I wouldn't respect him if he did.

Seb bothers me. He's really wishy-washy. His character had promise that was never played out. IMO

I am with you, Sebastian is the only character I do not like.. at all, can't wait to be able to kill the idiot, that would be the day all my mages turn to blood-magic to force the maker to watch over Sebastian's blood drained body.^_^

It would have worked better if he had been the one to kill Anders...

Hawke would have the choice to let Sebastian kill him or stop him

I have to admit it would have been nice to see him step up.

Wow, Huntress, you shouldn't hold back.  Tell us how you really feel?Image IPB

To be honest I'm astonished Sebastian inspires this much antipathy from a player.  Aside from his quests and some minor flirtation with a female Hawke, I felt his execution in the game was poorly done.  He gets a badass intro, which held so much promise...then...nothing.  I find him very 'meh'.

I'd much prefered to have Nathaniel Howe instead of the Starkhaven Prince/Choir Boy.

Although I do enjoy his Act 2 quest immensely, especially if you've done Night Terrors with Isabela first and bring her along for her commentary in Redemption.  Comedy goldImage IPB!

ROFL so sorry.. I don't understand how people dont see him as a traitor when he leaves the party, why should hawke kill Anders for him? Pff and He is not that good of a DPS anyway.. varric is way better! And maybe I  don't like him turning fenris to a human GOD  or trying to brain wash merril.
maybe I don't like him because of this:
  • Sebastian: It's our duty to tell the templars.
  • Fenris: Then why haven't you done it?
  • Sebastian: I guess I was hoping they'd come to it on their own.
  • Fenris: And then you wouldn't have to betray Hawke's friends, right?
  • Sebastian: That's not reason enough to allow a maleficar to walk free.
(If Anders is in the party)

  • Anders: You think the templars don't know I'm here? They just haven't caught me yet.
(If Merrill is in the party)

  • Merrill: Are you talking about me?
  • Sebastian: Which of us should do it? Shall we draw lots?
  • Fenris: Uh-uh. You want to turn them in, you work it out with Hawke.

@Huntress, that conversation is even better when he says it following my canon blood mage Hawke.

So, it's not so much you object to Sebastian's character, you really like Anders? I suppose since I am more ambivalent about his character, if I liked Anders I'd probably hate Sebastian too. But since I really hate Anders, and look forward to slipping him the murderknife every game, I don't usually lose Sebastian, or witness his hissy fit. I just wish there were an option to have Fenris do the honors since his 'killing' shot is so much cooler than the little knife thing.

I don't have the "he's a traitor" mentality since he never leaves my Hawke. If someone killed the woman I loved as a mother I'd want to see him dead at my feet too. I'd probably sh*t on his corpse after I did the deed for good measure. I can sympathize with what Sebastian's feeling (I just wish he'd STFU about it at the time--I'm always "All right, all right, I get it, he's a menace, hang on...")

And the banter you copy/pasted is the moment I decided I really didn't care for Sebastian that much, but even that didn't inspire hatred in me. Though it certainly made me love Fenris more. There is a line Fenris won't cross, and I respect that. DG did an excellent job writing him. Really, Choir Boy is too boring to inspire much more from me than just..."meh" is the only sound I can think of to describe it.

He is, isn't he? LOL He's not even sexy.  He's too pretty to be sexy.  And he makes my archer Hawke kind of redundant.  Phooey on you, Sebastian.  Nice armor, though.

I really thought I'd like Sebastian more.  Hmm tbh I'd probably be more into him if my Hawke could romance him.  And not just as a guy; I want my Hawke to be able to knock his socks off under the sheets, if ya know what I mean.  Oh but that would require Sebastian to have GROWTH.  Vow of chastity my ass!  Like the Maker's gonna hate you if you fall in love and wanna get it on with the one you love?!  Just marry him/her and that should make it all right, but nooooo.

Okay, Sebastian rant over :P *pets Anders' feathers*

I use a mod to fix that so he's not so 'pretty boy', but even then I only bring him along for his quests (Because I have to) and to specific quests for getting his friendship/rivalry up.  Then I park him in the Chantry.  The only thing that makes him even tolerable to listen to is he has an excellent voice actor.  Love the accent.

With any luck, one of these days the game will think he's still in there and he will go up with the Grand Cleric....Image IPBWonder what it would take to glitch it out that way...
