Why are we debating sexual context when this is a clear linguistics issue? Asari are female, but not women.
The asari would have their own word for it which due to us lacking an asari dictionary will probably never know, although its probably just simply asari.
Here let me see if I can make some context...
Man is a gender neutral term for human. I.E mankind, human being, or person but has recently (relatively speaking) has been used to refer to a male human (Made so because of the term Woman as I will explain in a minute).
Woman using etymology comes from wifman (which means a "wife" man, which eventually changed to "Wo"man, which thus means female human being).
For reference sake Human means (in layman terms) belonging to man.
Asari are not human, not belonging to the group known as man, and thus are not woman. They are the asari equivalent and for humans to define them (and not use taxonomy) we would have to invent a new word or borrow the asari's word for however they refer to their own species.
This pretty much.

Because the word sparkles, just like twilight despite their proper meanings have been forever tainted.
Yes exactly.

The Asari likely don't have a vag based
on how they reproduce. That's bloody disgusting(as if the tentacle heads
weren't enough).
Well if the kids come from their ass that's significantly more sh*tty. :whistle:Seriously though the bellybuttons and the lack of comments on it pretty much suggest that.
Though like the above poster said it's not likely an pleasurable zone. Just for reproductive purposes.
...then again they are green skinned alien babe homages so it probably is. I dunno.
