Hello,
Purchased NWN2 from the MacApp Store a couple of days ago. Thus, it was a purely downloaded copy, I received no CD and no CD key. First thing I tried was to create a multiplayer game since I purchased this game exclusively to play online with my cousin. His copy is working fine, but when I try to either join a hosted game or host a game myself, it gives me an error that "Your CD Key is Unauthorized."
I'm running Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) on a Macbook Air (13", mid-2011 model).
This is really frustrating and Aspyr's suggestion to delete the "com.aspyr.nwn2.plist" file in my User/Library/preferences folder did not work.
Did I just get swindled out of the money I paid for this game?!?

You will not get a CD because you purchased a digital version. The CD key however should have been automatically installed by the game installer. It is in ~/Library/Application Support/Neverwinter Nights 2/nwncdkey.ini.
Its content should look like this, with the NWN2 OC CD key being after Key1=. Key2 and Key3 are for the MotB and SoZ expansions which are not sold by Aspyr:
[CDKEY]
Key1=
Key2=
Key3=
I had no problem with the installer setting up the nwncdkey.ini file correctly. If your file is not correct then maybe you should uninstall and redownload it from the App Store.
Hope this helps.

Hrm, I do not have a ~/Library/Application Support/Neverwinter Nights 2/nwncdkey.ini file. Is this a text file that I can easily create?
Thanks for the reply.

It is a text file but you need to know your CD Key to create it. The App store installer should have created it and populated it correctly. I suggest you open the terminal utility and type the command:
open Library
This will open a finder window for the -/Library folder. Navigate in that window to the Application Support/Neverwinter Nights 2/ folder and double check that the nwncdkey.ini file is not there. If it is really missing then something went wrong with the App Store installer. So reinstall from the App Store and hopefully that will create the file correctly.

Just had the same.
What a coincidence ALL is working fine, only the nwncdkey.ini file is missing.
I'm trying to reinstall right now, 4,33Gb to download to get a probably less than 2kb text file… what a joke, what a waste of time and resources…
Something is WRONG here.

Reinstall from Mac App Store completed, still no nwncdkey.ini…
I did a Finder search and even a
> find / -name nwncdkey.ini
in Terminal, still nothing… what should I do now?

Fixed, the nwncdkey.txt is created afterwards when launching the game, connections are made to aspyr and bioware servers, don't know which one fired the process.
