I have recently gotten and Xbox 360 because the previous one i was using is my sisters and she is moving out. But, i have Mass Effect 1+2 saves and Mass Effect 2 DLC on her HD, and i cannot afford to buy all the DLC once again. Is there a way i can transfer the DLC from her HD onto mine and for it to be playable on my console without having to buy the DLC and download them all again on my hard-drive?

I have read some things but i don't really understand what i can and cannot do and the consequences of doing it. I have read that it may be registered to my gamer tag - but have also read that if might be linced on the hard-drive and cannot be transfered and be playable.

First of all you're going to have to sort out who owns what.

Dlcs are linked to both the console, not the HDD as such, and the Gamertag. With EA games there is also the added component of them being linked to an EA account.

Insofar that you have stated that you cannot afford to buy all the dlc once again, you seem to be suggesting that you bought the dlc in the first place. If they are 'yours' then check to see if they are bought using your Gamertag and with your EA account. If any part of that is answered negatively then you'll encounter issues which technically can be resolved but whether tech support in the respective companies will resolve them is another matter.

To perform transfers you will need a transfer cable; I'm unaware of new 360s including one so you may have to either borrow one, buy one, or contact Microsoft (which is more likely I think).

Alternatively, though I don't know why you want to avoid this, you could just redownload the dlcs (link in my sig for a general guide in how to do that).

In any case you'll need to recover Gamertag and perform the content license transfer (again links in sig) for your 360.

That is all assuming that the dlcs are indeed yours, of course. If they are your sister's...there is a 'cheat' around the system, though I do not feel inclined to inform people of what it is. It is something that anyone could figure out for themselves if they think about it a bit more. Generally in this case I would just state 'no'. Without the dlc present you'll get the corrupt dlc message and be unable to load your current save games.

Since this is related, I've recently had a similar situation with both Mass Effect titles. My system red-ringed about six weeks ago (it was a first model elite, so, I knew it was coming), and I just got a new one for the holiday. In the last few days, I've wanted to go back and play through the entire series as we're coming up on ME3 very soon, and I haven't played through Arrival yet. My issue is with the DLC coming back with statements like "download is corrupted", "data unavailable", and the like.

Now, both my Xbox GamerTag and my EA Account are linked to the new Xbox, and things like Cerberus Network have opened up fine. I've attempted to wipe and redownload the content completely on the new console, and I'm still getting the same issues. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the content, the download service (Xbox Live), the console, or simply user error on my part.

It'd be great if you let me know a.s.a.p. as I'm dying to play through them again very soon.

You haven't mentioned performing the content license transfer (link in sig), and it sounds typical of a case where that hasn't been performed. Dlcs are tied to Gamertags and consoles; online and offline privileges respectively.

Do the content license transfer first and that should resolve the issue for you; I also recommend recovering your Gamertag so it belongs to your new 360 as well.

I had already recovered the Gamertag, however, it was the content liscenses. Was not aware that it was a separate thing from the re-download. Thank you very much.

No. Sounds like you'll need to do the content license transfer as what you mention is typical of a case where you've changed 360s; even if not, perform it to see if it resolves your issue. Link in sig.
