I just installed mass effect 1 on my laptop and I am trying to start and i always have a message from windows telling me that the program stopped working!
Do you think it has something to do with directx, windows 7, or the DRM?
I dont think my laptop to slow cause i can play games like deus ex 3 and Mafia2!

The "has stopped working" problem after a new install is almost certainly because you haven't installed the 1.02 patch yet. Mass Effect 1 will not run at all on Win 7 (64 bit at least) without the latest patch.
