I'm more talking about Liara's "obsession" if you didn't romance her.
As long as you romance Liara, everything is fine. Her romance is not the kind of romance I am looking for, but this is a matter of taste.

It's more a non-romanced Liara that gives me (just sometimes) an uneasy feeling. Does she feel something for Shepard? If yes, why can't I tell her no? I know how it feels to be in love with someone and don't get those feelings back. It must be horrible for Liara. I simply want to tell her: "let us be friends" without being an ass or cruel or something.

Know what I mean? I'd like to be nice with Liara - without running into the problem Liara could want more than my Shepard can give.

That's not really established. Nowhere in any of the ME lore is it suggested that Asari can use melding for involuntary interrogations. It's never been presented as an all-intrusive ability.

Actually CptData even unromanced Liara isn't obsessive unless you were a total di*k to her. In which case its creepy.

Unromanced but friendshipmanced Liara is like a very close and caring friend who would go an extra mile for you.

You can't romance her in Lotsb unless you already romanced her.

And she is very supportive of all your relationships even if you break up and move on.

Just look at what an unromanced Liara says about Tali.

Shepard:Tali is very special to me.

Liara: She was always inflatuated with you from the begining, even from the time of the original Normandy.

Shepard: Why didn't you tell me about since it then?

Liara(smile): And miss the look on your face when you found out yourself???

See Liara dosen't mind if you don't romance her. She is pretty accepting to the concept that you may not like her.

Though if you cheat on her thats a different story.

PM a moderator if you feel a thread is going off topic or people are abusing site rules.  Quote pyramids and pic spam are not helpful at all, and in fact it's pretty rude to arbitrarily decide whether or not a thread is "worthy" of not being disrupted by you.  

On the topic of Liara's love and/or obsession with Shepard; it makes perfect sense to me that she would have felt strongly for Shepard, even if she's not the chosen LI.  She was saved by Shepard when they first met, Shepard not only believed her theories about the Protheans, but confirmed them, and Shepard helped stop her mother when she was indoctrinated.  Not to mention the whole taking down Saren and a Reaper thing.  Even if I'm not romancing her, I don't begrudge her her feelings.

Think that works to me. Still think she's a bit obsessive or has hidden feelings for Shepard if not romanced. Especially in LotSB it feels like that - all those hugs 
You can avoid them, sure, but I simply have a tendency to be nice to my friends. Even if that causes issues with feelings, which seems to be true with Liara. Unless you're treating her like sh*t (what I can't) she seems to be in love with you, even if not romanced.

The entire "Liara brings Shepard back from the death" issue is another point. I can understand it for a romanced Liara. Maybe even a Liara that got not romanced but treated as a close friend. But what about those players who simply don't like her?

(in my headcanon Ashley does a lot for Shepard. Not all of that stuff was shown or is PG13. And it involves elevators :innocent:)

Contrived story telling is contrived. Saying anything about Liara is genuine is like saying Jesus (pbuh) rose on the third day got an AA-12 shotty, a 22 M4 Carbine, and two .45 APCs and conquered the Roman Empire in a reign of gunsmoke.

I don't see the problem...after Liara expresses her interest in Shepard you have three options for a response to her:

1) Yes, I'm interested too.
2) No, I just want to be friends.
3) Hell no!

She never brings up the topic again if you end the romance here.
