Yep. The mag is just trying to play up MP.  Most official BW statements include the disclaimer that you can achieve the ultimate ending through SP alone.  Remember how they announced MP, "It's not what you feared."

Right in the supposed Alliance space, yes.

Oh, and Earth is in Citadel space, according to those guys.

I, on the other hand, am going after this:

Because an invasion of an indestructible fleet of sentient warships would have no effect on the galactic borders at all. And we know that given borders retain integrity throghout ME3. Because, you know, we have played it.

Or... maybe we're just jumping to conclusions here? Not knowing the lead-up to this "breaking of one's own lore..."

Thank you for posting that article cannot wait for ME3 although i am somewhat unsure about 'galaxy readiness meter' to me it kinda seems like what Fable 3 did with getting money ready for the darkness and to be honest i didn't really like that aspect of the game. Also at the very start of the time the reapers are already at Earth and i assume the rest of the galaxy so at what date is the galaxy readying itself for?

I'll admit that I'm still slightly worried about it. There seems to be some sort of quantifier to all of this. That is to say that it not only depends on how well you play your SP game, but also what level of "playing well" you're talking about, if that makes any sense. Simply playing through the campaign doesn't necessarily mean you're going to get the best ending, but rather how you do things throughout.

In short, it sounds like it's going to be so difficult to achieve the optimal ending that resorting to multiplayer may become a favorable necessity to ease the pain. While possible, I *seriously* hope that's not the case.

You know, I'm really tired of the blind "plai game hurr" arguments.

Since when in the Mass Effect universe have the humans changed from the "Systems Alliance" to the "Earth Alliance?" They haven't, and a reaper invasion wouldn't change that, there are still human colonies, not just earth.

Then again, having "System Alliance" would confuse and scare away the "wider audience," so I can understand why they have to dumb even that down to terms they'll be able to understand.

Huh. I thought Council space was a little more than that.

Well think about it. The Alliance is one of the more (if not the most) expansionist race in Citadel space. The Alliance is criticised at times for expanding so much and they can't even protect most of their space at time since their military is so small they have to use tactics such as only protecting relay nexus points  with their fleets and have small garrisons protecting their planets which makes them very vulnerable to first strikes.

The Council and especially the Asari are more reluctant to expand fast due to the Rachni and Krogan wars. Remember the Asari are old and many of them may not have been alive during those wars but they remember the loses suffered from that and family members who have been hurt badly by those wars.  Due to that they are less likely to encourage major expansions unless it helps them in a major way.

If Earth really grabbed up all of that territory I can really see why the Batarians got super pissed. From what I'm seeing here humans supposedly have more territory than the any of the other Council races individually.

Is this map provided by Bioware or is it a mock-up by the magazine?

...what? My argument was at least plausible, while you're playing the "dumbed down" card again. Sorry, not having this discussion.

The Earth Alliance is a newer faction in ME from what I hear. Since the Reapers have hit Earth first Earth is attempting to unite the races of the galaxy into the Earth Alliance. A reason why the writer of the Article likely got Earth Alliance confused with Systems Alliance. Also When speaking about a large region of space home to dozens and dozens of SA planets its best to name the most prominent planet or group. If anyone actually has some knowledge on the ME series then they wouldn't actually need incredibly specific info.

It is the main reason why the Batarians were pissed. The SA was expanding into the Attican Traverse quickly. A territory the Batarians were already trying to expand into. The SA obviously won out in that. Humanity likely has more territory than a single council race but remember we likely don't have the population, resources or even military to even be greater than them.

The Alliance has expanded quickly but at the same time its a con since the SA can't necessarily sufficiently guard every planet out there.

It was Bioware who compiled the map. Come on, people, It's obvious :/ Some stuff goes down during the war which causes territorial shifts, can't we just get over this without shrugging it off for unprofessional journalism?

I mean, they'd [@Gamer] come up with fancy terms a-la Inner Council Space/Outer Council Space for no good reason?

It's obviously tied with the plot. We all know the chances of them answering about that :)

I'm liking the idea of leveling up a multiplayer character to the point he becomes one of my assets in the final battle/galaxy at war.

I bet they just threw Earth Alliance System in there to specify that it's human controlled territory, maybe its a story driven name change, maybe not, and call it dumbed down or not, but there's a lot of gamers who don't spend a lot of time entrenched in the Mass Effect lore, I think they were just trying to be clear for the novices. I can't blame them for that.

The majority of that map should be called "Reaper space" if we're going to be overly technical about it.

It's political map pre-ME3.

So no, it's not a spoiler they will avoid.

Especially since they allow that magazine to use that political map, if Bioware made it ofcourse.
There's no reason to dodge the answer.

Oops. Where did they specify that? In that case, I'm probably wrong, sorry.

Well, maybe not entirely. They'll still find reasons to not answer. That much I can guarantee :)

Maybe "inner Council space" is space of original Council races, while "outer Council space" is volus / elcor / hanar / drell?

One little thing that had me surprised is Liara's breathing mask. And lack of helmet on James and Shepard. Guys are too cool for oxygen?

Grinding to raise the readiness meter? Sounds lame. I have no interest in MP.

If there are a selection of great individual missions to raise galactic readiness like the 'loyalty missions' from ME2 then that is fair enough.

Everything else sounds great.
