Seriously BioWare, why do you keep making these stupid mistakes. I thought you said everybody was going to get proper helmets this time, and now we see Liara in one of the latest screens wearing that same stupid LotSB breather mask. It's like you really haven't learned a damn thing about the issues people had with ME2's pyjama squad and are just so concerned about turning Mass Effect into this mindless, over-the-top modern Hollywood action movie that you don't even care about the integrity and consistency of the universe you've created any more.

Just bring Tali and Garrus everywhere; they have the sense to wear full helmets. Problem solved.

Although I don't agree with the tone, I agree with the premise: Breathing masks are a no-no.

Sheploo and James are not wearing any helmet nor mask so it's either some plague like the one in Omega or just the fact that the game is not yet finished

I noticed that too on Liara. I wonder why Shepard and Vega have nothing on at all though? Unless I'm looking at the wrong screenshot.

You know there -are- situations where breathing masks are preferable to helmets, right?

They never actually said that. Casey Hudson did say however, that helmet options will range from no helmet at all, to breather masks, to full-face helmets.

Shepard nor Vega ain't wearing a helmet nor breathing mask.

There can be many reasons why Liara uses breathing mask, outside of she's in space/vacuum/toxic place.

There's another one where Shepard with a helmet and Liara are fighting a Cerberus agent with a big shield and you can see the "straps" of Liara's breathing mask on the back of her neck too.

I'm not sure if the map is 100% final, but it is pretty close.

Why not? We like the breathing masks as evident by them returning. Terror doesn't, which is fine, but they aren't going to change. There are elements in ME that are not 100% science. These are done because teh team likes the way they look or work in ME. While not 100% good science, we feel they make for good game.

So... deal with it.

You can explain all incorrect science with the words "mass effect fields".

Seriously?! If that's your attitude and the attitude of BioWare and the ME dev team these days, then to hell with you guys. You claim to care about the universe you've made and that you listen to fans, and yet you insist on giving all of us the middle-finger who actually care about the integrity, consistency and logic of the lore and precedence that you originally set.

Why should I care about what started off as a great sci-fi universe when the developers just clearly don't any more? When they can have an entire second act that centres around the main character getting spaced, dying and coming back to life because of the dangers of space, only for it to be trivialised for the entire rest of the series due to things like cleavage holes, nipple-straps, breathing masks and the like.

Yeah... way to stay true to your own work and way to try and keep fans with that attitude. If this is how ME3 is handled as a whole, the whole game is fail and the whole Mass Effect universe --one that started so well-- is bin-worthy now.

I'm leaning towards "It's not a big deal" side. What will make or break ME3 for me is the overall quality of the writing and gameplay, not whether or not I can see Liara's face when in a vacuum.
