Yes and No. Played through this with both Wrex and Wreave. Key reason its probably my fave story sequence in the game.
If you have Wrex you really will want to help the Krogan. Play with Wreave and you will smile your backside of when you dont cure it.
SHOULD shepard cure the genophage?

Genophage necessary evil in galaxy: other races cannot stop fast breeding Krogan from engulfing galaxy. Krogan tendencies toward violent disputes (Ravaging of Tuchanka, Rachni Wars, Krogan Rebellions) lead to strained relationships. Ticking time bomb waiting to happen. Must increase fuse of bomb, decrease birth rates to slow the overpopulation of species to compensate. Less competition among Krogan, less need for resources, less need for more territory. Lower threat of war escalation, increase chances for peaceful negotiation with council races. Give time for adaptation to galactic role in society. Perhaps a change in Krogan Species in the future. Uncertain.
I'm not sure if it was intentional, but I've just read all this in Mordin's voice.

No. I like Wrex and grunt alot! even more than thane but i don't think if shepard allow the "cure" the galaxy is going to be safe, right now for every 1000 krogan babies 1-2 survives, if the cure is out and the krogan make millions of little babies the galaxy is going to pay for allowing the genophage to last for as long as it did.
Not Shepard/wrex or grun will be able to stop them, they'll have to mass murder them all. They( the krogan) will twist Shepard good intentions to something far more horrible.
