Was curious if anybody would be able to help me with this.

I am attempting to create a Human Thief->Wild Mage char to solo through BG1 & 2. I have BGT installed.

I dualed to mage at level 7 Thief. I go to Shadowkeeper and change my Kit to Wild mage and add in the specific wild mage spells (reckless dweomer and chaos shields).

Now the issue is that I do not have the extra spell slot that is given to Wild mages. I read that I can use shadowkeeper and copy the effects (for the extra spell slot) onto the char and it will give them to me. Whenever I open my saved game with Shadowkeeper the Affects tab is completely blank and will not allow me to put anything in it.

My paladin has the list of Effects in Shadowkeeper but my Thief/Mage does not. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

If somebody can help that'd be great, thanks!

By "spell slot" do you mean "+1 spell per spell level" that all specialist wizards get? The reason for that is that it's not an effect that adds that. When you level up and get the new spell level for the first time, that's when you get the +1 spell for that level. You won't see it until you go up a wizard level that gets a new spell level.

For example, when you first dual and are level 1 as a generic wizard you get 1 spell. Changing the kit to Wild Mage won't go back and add the +1 first level spell since you are already level 1. But if you've already set the class to Wild Mage (applies to other specialist wizards), when you go up to the level that gets 2nd level spells (level 3 I think), you should get the proper 2. You can change the number of existing spells under one of the spell tabs - it will show you how many spells per level you can memorize. select the level that you should have more of add click the + or "add" (can't remember, don't have it in front of me).

In summary - if you have already set the kit, once you go up levels that give a new spell level, you should get the +1 memorization/day for that level. Existing spell slots for spell levels that were achieved as a "normal" wizard prior to changing the kit will need to be manually edited.

I think that gaining any level will fix your spells, actually. However, you'll probably want to edit the number you have manually in the meantime.
