Knowing this, do you really think its necessary to continue to argue tastes and preferences? This is what I was talking about earlier when I said that both of us could argue this for days and still be utterly convinced of our positions.

I'm still amazed that people continue to take gameplay mechanics (in this case mechanics which are meant to be an incentive to remain in the MAKO) at face value.Phaedon wrote...
Yeah. The problem here is that hours=/=seconds.
Envirosuit= Suit that is designed to offer you significant protection for prolonged exposure to a specific element.
Using a ME1 hardsuit to deal with a dangerous enviroment is like handling plasma with a cooking glove.

I dare say Deus Ex had the best idea when it came to inventory
now if only I could bring myself to play that game again but the lack of proper NG+ in a game with progression is a killer for me
I would be comfortable with this.

Or, alternately, an incentive to wear some really ugly armor.

Actually I liked the way the Explorer series looked.

The entire point of the mass rectuiment was to GET more manpower. How did you miss that?
And why exactly would you need non-soldiers on the mission you had?
And yes, Kasumi not cloaking on her own (Apart from SS) and Thane not being sneaky is just game mechanics. Same with Legion not being able ot hack into ATM's and forward you trillions of credits, and headshots not always inflicting instantly lethal damage, and regenerating health.
Saying "Durr it's just BioWare's fault" just to say it doesn't make you look any smarter.
Well it is BioWare's fault.
They could have made the levels so that sneaking is viable. If not the levels themselves, they could have at least made a mission or two where Thanes, Kasumis and Tali's skillsets were actually IMPORTANT.
You can say "it's game mechanics" all you want, it won't change a damn thing. At the end of the day it's BioWare who choses the game mechanis. They could have implemented all the things you mentioned and made them part of the gameplay - or at elast, part of the STORY. You could have had a justification for Tali, Thane and Kasumi, like you had for Morodin.

What actually happens if an astronaut goes into space with just a breathing mask and half naked? Don't they freeze or swell up?
In Final Fantasy 4, everyone went into space just wearing their costumes and no breathing equipment. Must be magic.
In Mass Effect, there must be some Mass Effect field keeping them alive.

Crimson, it sounds like you're arguing that ME1 and ME2 weren't both great games, when despite their flaws, they were. It sounds like you view ME2 as a step down on your primary criteria while I view it as a step up.

The only things ME2 does better is the inventory and the gunplay mechanics.
From the story/plot/structure and universe building it is worse than ME1 is every way. This isn't even debatable.

Ursa is nice as well. At least light to medium are better than heavy though. I did like the Gladiator line also.
Those aren't Devlon armors, which are the ones that provide hazard protection (and are largely really ugly).

Oh, it's debatable alright. It's just not worth debating with people who like to assert that matters which have a large subjective component aren't even debatable.

Thanks. I'm glad you can tell me about my own tastes and preferences regarding story/plot/structure and the universe... especially which characters I find more appealing and what dialogue I found to be superior.
I obviously share the same opinion as you, as does everyone else... so that can't possibly be debatable.

And why exactly would you need non-soldiers on the mission you had?
You don't know what specialists are, do you?
Why does the army field engineers and medics and mechanics, when they could just use more grunts?
Stupid logic is stupid.

I'm surprised. I didn't expect a thread about breathing masks would be so popular. 31 pages on. Well I have this to say.

It's been going on for 31 pages, but only a handful of replies past page 5 actually have to do with breathing masks :|

It's a lot like the movie Armageddom (even plot structure is the same). One hell of a ride, extremelly exciting and full of WOW moments. But if you look carefully it's easy to see that nothing makes any sense.

If it was explained in-game that Shepard's crew all got cybernetic augmentation allowing them to survive comfortably in toxic enviroments, and they're never shown in vacuum, I'd be comfortable with it too

Well there is only so much you can say about the topic. Breathing masks areimportant, but so are space and environmental suits. Going into space half naked is a stupid idea.
Yes I said it, Going into space half naked is a stupid idea. Go try it for yourselves.
That probably sums up pages 1-5. As for the rest of the pages probably banter about why some feel ME 1 is better than ME 2 and why some feel ME 2 is better than ME 1. Am I correct.

He's already part cyborg, and we do have those codex entries regarding genetic engineering being used to alter human DNA in various ways. And Shepard was dead for a two year gap, which is the perfect time to shoe-horn in new technology and science. Bioware had everything they needed to make it work. All that's missing is the actual explanation.
