When she confronts you about your relationship don't pick the upper right option. To be sure you break up pick the bottom right option. Pretty sure the middle right one also break up with her but never tried it myself. You can save right before the conversation if you want to be sure. The conversation happens after the final boss and you start a dialogue with Liara so you won't have to worry about it till the end.

Sorry to bump this old post up, but when I do select the break up options I notice Liara's picture is still there, and the scene that occurs where your Shepard looks at her picture (as if to signify a romance) still shows up. is this normal even if the break up options are selected, or is it not supposed to have this at all?
