Mage Specialization Inquiry

Does anyone have any info/advice/links that would help me increase my knowledge about what spells and specialization(s) I should focus on to advance my skills to become a master nuker? Any help is appreciated!

As a nuker, you don't really have any specialization that's going to add to your weapons. You just want to stick with the primal skills. Though, if you don't mind having an evil-like (though there is no true evil in DA), the blood mage will pack some punch aswell. The Arcane Warrior lets you equip heavy armour, so that's usefull too I guess. But I don't know the spell penalties for heavy armour, so that could be a setback.

All the information you want is there. None of the specialisations will
improve your 'nuking' ability. If you want raw damage however, I would
think Blood Magic is the way to go as it is the only one that opens up addtional magic damage abilities.

All I know is Primal's what I'll be focusing on basically. But I don't know how many Primal spells I should take on because I don't want too many tiers open and end up not mastering multiple tiers because of a lack of points to spend when I reach my soft level cap. I guess I'll have to be wise in my choices.
If I pick a specialization, it'd definitely be Arcane Warrior. Seems like there would be some benefits to spell power increase and it'd be cool to equip weapons and armor for up close and personal combat. But how beneficial that would be is unknown to me...maybe I won't specialize if it's unnecessary.
Decisions, decisions...

You get passive bonusses from them. Most of them just some stats, but stats is power. Spirit Healer gives you minor health-regen, so that's very nice too (although it won't be alot)

You can pick two specializations if you choose to. Granted, keep in mind that you have a set number of talent points, and each specialization only gives you more spells to spend/waste talent points on. So if you really prefer nuking, you may not even want to specialize. Also, I don't think Arcane Warriors in heavy armor mitigate all armor penalties. I'm pretty sure they're mana innefficient from what I've heard.
Agh! Now I don't know if I should specialize at all!!

A half-truth.
You also get passive bonuses for specializing, and I don't know if you have to spend ANY talent points on the specialization spell line. So if you'd like some free bonus stats you should most likely specialize twice.

It would be hilarious if an apostate mage could take Arcane Warrior, & use it to wear the Blood Dragon Armor to hide from the templars by impostering as a tank!
Templar: Hold it! Oh, never mind, I guess ya couldn't be who we're looking for, our target is a mage.
Apostate: (feigns ignorance) Mage? Ahh, apostate hunting?
Templar Commander: Yep, we're on the heels of an apostate Blood Mage last seen around here. Seen anything suspicious lately?
Apostate: (feigns thinking hard for a moment) Hmm... Now that ya mention it, I recently passed by a lone stranger in a wierd robe headed toward the Korcari Wilds a few hours ago in a suspiciously big hurry, but I got my own tasks to do & didn't have time to dwell on it.
Templar Commander: Sounds like our target! Templar's, ONWARD!!!
Templars: Sir, yes sir!
(The templars galavant off in a hurry.)
Apostate: (under his breath) Ha haha ha... Suckers!

Blood Mage too sounds interesting, but I doubt going 'the darker path' is suited for my character. So unless you can get 'corrupted' by a Demon, and still manage to stay 'good'* and persuade everyone that you're only using it for 'good'* then I might pick that up.
*There of course is no 'real' 'good' or 'evil', but I suppose it makes it easier to see my point.

Plus, I don't want Alistair despising me since he'll be my tank.
*picks Blood talent spec*
"Hey...Whoa, dudes!...Why ya'll got your weapons in my face?!"

I don't know if this is considered a spoiler, but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that by becoming a blood mage , Wynne will leave your party or possibly attack you. So to get both spirit healer and blood mage specialization it looks like you would have to get spirit healer first...

So less advancement on the spell tree prolly.
but still, take arcane warrior just because its the coolest class there is in a fantasy game.

@ AncientManBeast, if you don't have sufficient influence, yes. Don't think it's a make or break thing though.

Wearing armour, wielding shields and weapons opens up versatility i.e. Heavy spirit focus makes you highly resistant to enemy magic so slap on a massive 2H and go fluff up stuff. Its the concept we like, like a medieval Jedi, fiction based martial artists and so on. Charge forward with a massive 2H and before you impact letting rip with a variety of spells etc. Not all of us want to be emo mages =)

I don't know about "complete act." Trying to avoid spoilers, but the demon who teaches it isn't the kill-em-all kind. It has different methods.AffectedFiddle wrote...
Same reason some of us scratch our head at a Blood Mage/Spirit Healer. While DO:A may have grey areas, there is still a clear line for evil i.e. killing everyone in a maternity ward so you could become more powerful is hard to swing as a grey act. I doubt being a Blood Mage involves being good or grey, rather a complete act of evil.
