The word "Kaidan" isn't a name, and I've never heard it used as a name, outside of Kaidan in ME.But I know his last name "Alenko" is an actual last name on Ukraine so maybe they still took the 'kaidan' word from Japanese on purpouse?
Edit: for example, imagine the situation when his last name would be something like "Alexeyenko"...
