Thread of the Post-Year Era.
nice joke but theres been better threads this year IMO, still its incredibly amusing to find and individual with such a limited understanding of game design. That he actually thinks that skyrim has done anything new for gaming is ridiculous, when at most its an slight improvement on the usual bethesda formula, and not even a proper enough one to even consider it noticeable in Bethesda's game catalog much less gaming at large.

I'm still waiting for someone to have a fit over the fact that perks are something dirty, nasty FPS games have.
But if it's in one of the games that they like, it's okay.

Do not forget that Skyrim was "dumbed down" compared to its predecessors.

Bioware and Bethesda take very different approaches to their RPG's. Each apporach has its strengths and weaknesses. Neither is less valid than the other.
the thread should have ended with this comment.

While we're at it, let's talk about how much larger Daggerfall was. Hell, sure it was mostly randomly-generated and there's nothing nearly so immersive about a top-down camera angle, but who cares about technology and graphics and other stupid things only Call of Duty players like? It's developer ambition that counts.
not sure if serious......

It's weird. Adding a horde mode multiplayer is a total rip from Gears. As is most of the combat style.

Gears of war isn't the first third person shooter and it certainly isn't the first game with a horde mode.argonian persona wrote...
Why is everyone ok with Mass Effect incorporating things from Call of Duty, Halo and Gears of War....but not Skyrim?

Yeah, ME totally ripped off Gears for it's combat. Because GoW was the 1st ever cover-based TPS.
Seriously, dude? This is ridiculous.

Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer isn't even a horde mode it objective based and can be completed unlike gears of war horde where you just try and survive as long as possible. Plus the Multiplayer actually effects the singple player in ME3 which i don't see in Gears.

You're not the only one, for a large segment of the fanbase, Mass Effect 3 seems to be terrifying rather than exciting them. There are rumors of having less control over what Shepard says, hints that the refreshingly realistically portrayed woman Ashley is being turneds into a sexualized Miranda clone in order to appeal to the lowest common denominator, it looks like the (relatively) hard sci-fi of ME1 has been abandoned in favor of "science" fantasy Star Wars style drivel, ****ing Origin, multiplayer not only sucking up recourses that should have gone to single player but actually influencing single player (so in a way it's not like a feature you can just ignore, the mp existing actively punishes players who generally don't like mp), and I've avoided leak spoilers like the plague but apparently they add in a whole new level of fear. It's not just one or two things, it seems like with nearly every bit of info we hear the devs are taking ME down a road the fans DON'T want to see it go down.
I hope the game proves a lot of people wrong, I guess we'll know in a couple of months.
All my fears in one post. Thank you.

*breaks down crying* I FELT LIKE NEEDED SOMEONE ELSE THERE WITH ME.
ME on the other hand? Beautiful characters for the most part. And I love playing every moment of it. I don't doubt that ME3 will be a LITTLE different from the other two. but I think that was more to do with the fact that THREE is a WAR STORY. And everything else reflects that. It will still have more skills and more RPG element then two did.
So just shut up and wait for it come out.,

Exactly; AP had interesting characters and choices and consequences in abundance. Skyrim, for all its positive attributes... did not.Kaiser Shepard wrote...
It isn't Skyrim ME3 should be measured against, but rather the likes of Alpha Protocol and The Witcher 2.

Yep, Witcher 2, DE:HR and Alpha protocol are what we should be comparing mass effect to and in that case, the ME games fare poorly...hell, they fare poorly compared to DA:O and that's a bioware game
Didn't Alpha Protocol suck? It got lackluster reviews across the board. I couldn't play DE:HR more than a couple of hours before giving up on it. Don't play PC games, so I haven't played Witcher 2, but I have read and heard that it was quite a game.

Alpha Protocol had some pretty weak graphics and gameplay, but it was great in the writing and choices departments. Definitely underrated.MELTOR13 wrote...
