i for one don't think ME3 is an RPG anymore. sure you can mod weapons, but was there intention really to do that for the RPG crowd?
Why does it matter? Was it an "RPG element" when ME1 did it? If yes, then it should count as one when ME3 does it. In any case, they clearly were influenced by the scads of people who asked for it, most of whom cited ME1 when asking.
less choice in everything dialogue, and a semi-rail story because sheperd has to do specific things to defeat the reapers.....
Not sure how you've enumerated the number of dialogue choices and I really doubt you've actually counted those in the other games, which would be necessary to back this up. Assuming that quantity is what you're talking about, as it's difficult to parse that bit. In any case, a "semi-rail story" is not at all new to the franchise (or, actually, Bioware games in general).
i guess they threw away the ME1 dream after they tasted the money from ME2. way to go Eaware
This notion that it was the enormous riches gleaned from ME2 that's to blame (and granting for the sake of argument that blame is even the right response) is rather suspect considering that the sales gap between ME1 and ME2 wasn't exactly enormous based on the available info. Now the critical response to ME2, on the other hand....well,
that I'm sure made the devs feel rather vindicated about the changes they made.
