Wouldn't a much safer way to be just derail the thread with discussion rather than spam pics? Pony discussion that is.

Also we're having our first BroNYcon in New York right now and one of the most popular MLP FiM sites, Equestria Daily has nearly reached 100 million hits. Our fanbase is bigger than one might think.

And growing bigger all the time. I myself am a recent addition to the herd, having only started watching the show about three weeks ago.

That's what we're trying to do here by derailing it with ponies. Now tell me, who do you think is best pony?

There once was a pony who played a game called Skyrim, people huffed and puffed about such a deed "YOU SHOULD PLAY ME3 INSTEAD" They said.
Nou said the pony i have to go and shout a sweetroll down Riften.
"YOU COULD FLY INTO A SUN IN A GAME CALLED ME3" FUN! HUH!? "
nou said the pony.

I don't know. Every other time I derail a thread with ponies it gets locked; perhaps the mods are all off because it's the weekend?

It's weird, it is, how its so gamebreaking yet everywhere its getting praise. It's an anomoly.

The discussion boards hum a different tune. Not damning it to hell, but no hymns either. Also it's not that well received on the PC, since it's UI is tailormade to fit console controllers.

But that aside: You can't compare a linear game with a sandbox. Skyrim certainly isn't the harbinger of a new age as the thread title suggests. Morrowind was, back in 2002. The whole genre was new back then.

Chances are that ME 3 will offer better roleplaying options than Skyrim, since Skyrim features a non reacting NPC population. They don't react to anything the player achieves and if the developers of ME3 haven't totally lost their grip, this won't happen with this game.

Npcs don't react to anything? It's apparent you havent played much of the game. Npcs, particularly guards, react to quests you've done in dialogue. They also comment based upon your character build. Ky highest Skill is Conjuration, thus, I've heard this:

"Summonor, Conjure me up a warm bed, wouldn't you?"

I've heard dozens of various different comments like this just based on my character.

The banter in Skyrim is dynamic and way more complex than any banter in ME. Bethesda obviously spent a lot of time on banter.

Npcs also will hunt you down and attack you randomly based upon what you've done in the game world. For instance, ive recently tried to make friends with the Orcs, but they attacked me so i wiped out the fort. I took a fancy, then, to attacking other forts. Just this morning I was exploring, travelling to complete a side quest when i got stopped by a high-level Orc assassin and subsequently attacked. Same has occurred with a cult I annihilated.

Don't know where this false information being provided to the contrast is coming from. Sounds an awful lot like dogmatic disbelief.

It's true that guards react to certain quests/character build, but I don't agree that it's well done. At least one third of the time I speak with a guard he/she sais either the arrow meme, or the one that he/she's could be the dragonborn.

I think another things that'll be interesting is seeing how new players to Skyrim, and there were a hell of a lot of new players introduced to TES with this game, will now perceive other games that do not allow the same amount of freedom. This includes Mass Effect 3. Die-hards in this forum won't probably be affected, but how will more casual fans view it after having freedom to go anywhere and so anything in the game at any time? After having such a detailed, massive world to explore, what will the forced linear gameplay feel like?

The media has been busy defending ME3 to the skeptics, the fanbase is fractured over ME3.

Yup.  apparently ignoring the thread is hard work for them.  I hope the ban hammer comes around.

Yeah, refering to you least favorite guild membership, mostly the ones the game has railroaded you into. Rambling about brewing potions whilst your alchemy skill is rather low.

But only if it's not arrow knee cap time.

Truth is, you're still everybody's dork when you rise up to lead some guild or have just saved the world.

But to each their own.

You seem angry. Awwwww, did somebody steal your sweetroll????

I kid...I see you point, and agree to an extent. I don't hear it as frequently as 33% of the time, but for a guy who has 300-400 hour playthroughs it becomes too frequent. Still, overall there is a lot of unique dialogue in banter. The random encounters, too, I feel are paced nicely to remind me of the bloodshed and merciless slaying of Orcs, for example, 10 gameplay hours ago. I mean, the last opponent was bloody and beaten, huddled in a corner begging for mercy, and i disintegrated him with high level and perked shock Destruction magicka.

On another note, I'm a powerful pure mage who happens to be Skyrim's Arch-Mage. I love when a Master Sorcerer attacks me, sees my powerful Ward spell combined with my Staff of Magnus, then runs away at full health begging for mercy. It's true, pure builds are rewarded. As they should! I forgo entire gameplay mechanics, and as a reward for that loss I'm given special recognition. It's sweet.

The general public think that Bethesda should release a game withouth game-breaking bug (like on Ps3) or that will or with a bug that makes the graphics look like a PS2 game (on Xbox, and while I didn't have much problem with the exception of few weapons in the inventory, it is/was a serious issue for a lot of people).
I really like Skyrim, and I think it's one (if not the best) of the best games in 2011, but it's not a perfect game. There were bugs (not only the one I posted) that caused a lot of problems, preventing people to play or complete quests (and even the game in one case). Ao I wouldn't use it as a meter of comparison, especially for ME3, which is complete different type of game/rpg.

For a game like ME3, I'd use TW2 as a meter of comparison, not Skyrim.

I think ME should allow more specific focus on certain Skills again, I.e. assault rifles over shotguns, biotics over weapons, etc, and give it significance. Is NPC banter in ME that great? I remember on Illium walking past a trading Volus, and it said the exact same thing every single time. Same with a lot of other npcs.

I'm curious how ME3's soundtrack will be viewed after Skyrim's masterpiece. I happen to think it'll be received well. Back to back games with truly epic soundtracks like this might be unprecedented.

What it needs is for folks to stop rising to the bait and arguing with the OP.  His stance is not going to change, no matter what is presented to him.

Purposefully trolling the thread with ponies (MLP is amazing, btw) won't get the thread lock if it's clear that folks are trying to get it locked.

If you don't want it up, you have two options: Ignore it or plead your case to a mod.  However, if folks keep trying to make their little "har har Skyrim" quips and keep trying to fuel the OPs enjoyment by trying to counterargue his view by this point, it's never going to end.  You can plead to a mod, but as the OP is just stating his opinion, however bloated and arrogant it is, he isn't doing anything wrong.  As long as he keeps referring Skyrim to ME3 without blantantly ensuing a versus war, this thread can stay up as long as this forum is alive.

If you all are really so sick of seeing this, then just let it go.

One of many good tracks, an exploration track, but a personal favorite. Excited to hear more from ME3, what I've heard sounds good.

I'm glad this thread is still here I just wanted to state I have played Mass Effect 1 and 2 numerous times and I never had a broken quest, so for all the accolades Skyrim will receive nothing will stick out In my mind more then broken quests in the game. So I hope ME3 will have good enough Beta testers so we wont have to put up with that BS.
