Very confused about all of this. Basically I have learned that her ring will play a role in things to come on my playthrough. I had never romanced her before until now.
Now, early on the ring is good...but as time goes on it sucks and obviously I want to replace it with better items. I set out trying to find out if I actually needed to equipt the ring for the things that happen later on to initiate. Or can I JUST have it in my inventory not being used? I really don't want to be bothered being forced to use such a weak ring unless its required.
Suprisingly I can't find much consistant info on this and it actually led me to more problems. Whats this about ruining endings for DAO or DAA? If I speak to her in Denerim Siege it will set her to friend status? Also I have never done Witch Hunt before. I would imagine having romanced her would affect the Witch Hunt DLC so obviously I don't want to end up setting it to friend status...it would be odd having romanced her and the game treating it as I havent durinf the DLC
To sum it up. What is the best possible way to go about this? If I knew she would be so complicated I wouldn't have done it. If I romanced her in the game I would like my endings to reflect that as well as the Witch Hunt DLC.
What causes the DAO and DAA endings to be messed up and go on as if I never romanced her? Plus also any workaround there is.

The ring is important in Witch Hunt.
In DAO and DAA it is not crucial to wear the ring. But if you plan to play the dlc Witch Hunt and want to discover its importance, then do not sell the ring. Keep it in inventory and re-equip it when you play Witch Hunt.

Also even if you ended as friends (such as if you had a romance and it ended). You can do Witch Hunt afaik.

I could swear I read somewhere that you need to wear the ring at one point in the DAO stand alone game for something to happen. So I don't need to worry about the ring at all until Witch Hunt?

I posted in the Morrigan thread about everything else, but for Witch Hunt just have the ring on to get some unique dialogue. The bug in Witch Hunt had to do with how BioWare handled transferring over the Dark Ritual choice, not the botched Morrigan epilogue slides from Origins to Awakening.

You don't even need to wear the ring to get the unique dialogue, I think. Just having it in your inventory triggers several instances of dialogue between your Warden and NPCs.
