I'm hoping the increased difficulty is not the typical less health and sheilds and instead the enemys will use even better tactics against us.
This. I'd like to avoid the difficulty setting that equates to:Just cling to cover and pop shots off till everyone is dead, because if they catch you in the open it's over before you know it. I understand making enemies stronger, but stripping me of all defenses isn't cool. Tactical AI's ftw.

Seriously folks, we know next to nothing about how these things interact, and we've been assured again and again that you can get the full awesomesauce ending without touching MP, more importantly that galactic readiness is only part of the total picture.

Yup. I've been enjoying the various "Something in SP will force players to do MP" theories I've seen in other threads.Homey C-Dawg wrote...
The idea that MP can influence the SP campaign without being necessary to it seems to be a tough concept for some people to wrap their heads around.

I think it's because some people can't get past the fact that there will be co-op mode in ME3.

Per Jessica's comments, I just hope that BW doesn't feel that customization of weapons & leveling is a sufficient amount of "RPG-ing". For me, BW excels on story and the choices the gamer makes in the pursuit of that story. To me, that will be the winning formula, not gun colors. Sorry, semi-off topic.
I'm going to be perfectly honest and say that I don't think I've ever heard two people agree on what "is a sufficient amount of 'RPG-ing'"... very loaded term IMO. That said, I think there's a great deal of customization in all aspects including combat, weapons, story, environment etc.
To go back on topic, I found that I could easily focus on combat or story (or both) depending on my mood, so I think most people will be able to play the game their way.

And the bolded is the exact problem people are still in the dark about it which the very source of confusion dispite the reassucences.

Whatever you thought about Shepard being the one true hero is going
to be squandered once you start Mass Effect 3. BioWare announced that
the game will be a lot more challenging than previous installments,
The Good.
and it very well may be due to the added push for online co-op.
The Bad.
ME3 will probably ask more from players in order to ensure how rage-inducing it will be for those playing alone.
The Ugly.

I RPG so hard that I make up dialog for all the NPCs while I'm playing AND say their lines outloud.
With that said, any news on a special ending for people who beat all three games on Insanity?
Because the insane fans should get tons of cool stuff. Remember, it's not a good idea to ****** of insane people. Never. Because it's never a good idea to...I said that already..shut up..SHUT UP!

To me, being pure singleplayer was always a main allure of BioWare games. I could play them at my leisure, exploring every little corner, replaying and not being bothered by the multiplayer fad.
Now they're dragging ME3, kicking and screaming, into the multiplayer scene, and furthermore they're forcing their original audience - those who came for the single player campaign - to participate in multiplayer, lest it will be really hard to get the ending you want.
Way to ****** off your loyal customers.

QFT. Lucidfox, I hate the idea of multiplayer too but they aren't forcing you to do anything. If the idea of it offends you that much, don't buy the game.
