My toughest fight in the ME series so far was on of the original games side quests. You end up hunting down a group of biotics who had a hostage, and had around 3 minutes to kill something like 6 or 7 high level enemies who spammed the biotics like crazy. I'm not entirely convinced that the side mission is even beatable with a group lower than level 20 which was me when I found out about them on my first insanity play through.

For ME2, none of them stand out as really difficult. Level design was a lot more straightforeward in general, with the odd exception of the Geth Colluses I rarely found myself pausing the game just to take a good look around at my surroundings and plan the best position to move to.

The 5 waves of enemies in Arrival. It's literally the only battle I have to pull out a heavy weapon (my trusty Blackstorm) for.

Collector's ship on insanity. Still haven't come threw. Little cover, and flanking enemies everywhere while Scions are flying around your platform...

This. I'm suprised I was able to beat the game considering how hard that level is on Insanity. So many times I wanted to throw my controller.

That last room in Zaeed's loyalty mission, with anything other than a Vanguard or Infiltrator (which can just Charge or Cloak spam their way to the door).

Horizon on a first hard core or insanity playthrough - imo toughest combo of limited powers and strong opposition s - if you can put off the collector ship long enough, you've got (half) a fighting chance - yeah right - and Arrival...

I remember the ME1 abandoned spaceship/colony prefab fights as well, some of those went nasty on higher difficulties. I also remember this one place, I think it was Therum, where you face off against a couple of Colossi on foot, with geth troopers AND stalkers to boot. Died a bazillion times there.

For ME2, I'd say Horizon and Derelict Reaper were problematic at times, and Haestrom's final battleground was tricky to say the least. Goddamn flamethrowers.

But overall, the most difficult fight in all ME games so far was the fighting the urge to ignore certain Interrupts for the sake of listening to dialogue. Ugh.

The Collector ship, definitively, i only play on insanity and it's still tricky with those two scions + harbinger + colectors, because harby closes up on you, you have to maneuver while avoiding the scions's blasts, it's easier with a sniper rifle, or the mattock (eeewwww), and the hardest with a non-assault rifle vanguard.

Horizon is a joke until you get to the last room with the two damned scions and their husks, you need to be really careful.

The two praetorians in the game are pretty easy if you just circle the truck ( in horizon), and the pillars in the collector ship.

In the first ME, i'll have to go with my first insanity Banezia, after that, the game is a cakewalk (at least for me) with stasis sentinel (my fav class)

Benezia during my insanity runthrough. I had a hard enough time with her on normal and hardcore, and the insanity-fight made me want to pull my hair out.

Garrus' recruitment mission in ME2 on insanity. Particularly the basement part where you have to close the shutters. I HATE that part and haven't been able to do it. Any suggestions?

Insanity NG+ doing Kasumi's LM as your first mission. Arrival and Horizon NG+ are tough too.

Actually, Insanity + Kasumi is not that bad. I do it first too (for the Locust). But I cheated. Shepard was rocking Inferno Armor.

Suicide mission part with the husks, abominations, and scion while staying inside the biotic bubble. On insanity of course. Only way I beat it was the game glitching on me and somehow sending me on top of one of the walls. I don't remember how I got down either :)
