dragon age II, shoud have waited it hitting the bargain bin. The worst game I ever pre-ordered.

Assassins Creed Revelations, I wasted my time pre-ordering it
Hookblade was a big let down, I had created a different image of the weapon in my head for ziplines etc

I love the original Assassins Creed, it was a little challenging and I love playing it, the others were fun but as it went it they became a failure. I think I may end up selling them except for the original now

I played the demo of Dungeon Siege III and didn't get much out of it, so I didn't buy it. So, I can't say it was a bad game. But I think I didn't like the isometric view. I don't think I like isometric views. Also, it bothered me that when conversations came up, your character transforms back to their default character model. I played the one that transformed into a fire djinn...

Which brings me to the most disappointing game this year for me:

Skyrim

I expected to play it longer than Oblivion before trying tof ind something else, but that turned out not to be the case. All those other games, at least I finished them, and Witcher 2 I haven't really played only because my laptop had been having problems and now I got other things I am obsessing over.

But on the other hand, I did buy it to have something to do over seas, but I don't know if that's happening anymore.

Its not terrible.... its just nothing special.
We waited how long for it? And what did they improve on from 2?
........
I'm drawing a blank
Oh right graphics

Yeah, pretty much. She-Hulk and X-23 and Phoenix... But that's about it.

Where's my Rogue and Psylocke? They couldn't even add them for the Ultimate edition?

I agree, it was disappointing, but it's still not my most disappointing.

Dragon Age II, I actually finished so it couldn't have been that bad. I'd say Legacy was more disappointing than the main game.

1. Bulletstorm - Honestly, too much profanity for me, and the game lost its fun factor after about five minutes. Fortunately I got all my money back.

You couldn't tell about the profanity before you bought it?

I actually liked the game... a lot. Some of the ridiculous word combinations they used put me off, but I thought the ridiculousness was hilarious. Also, I'm a sucker for Steve Blum and Jennifer Hale. Trishka is one of my favorite female characters this year.

My favorite part was when the giant mechanical dinosaur died and Grayson's speech afterward:

I named him Waggleton P Tallylicker, but I never got to tell him. He will be remembered.

Dragon Age II, with the immersion-killing ME-like inferface (and sound), so-called 10 years but disjointed and unattractive story, repeative area and no toolset at all. I have lost my faith on Bioware and what good impression DAO has given me. I no longer care about the series and have to think twice whether to purchase DA3.

@RPGamer - sounds like a lot of disappointment for you this year. Were there any new games you really enjoyed (beside bulletstorm)?

The Witcher 2. I say this because I expected so much more from CD Project. Bad game controls, poor continuity from the first game poor debugging. Also, weakening a character rather then strengthing the game is always a bad idea. My loss I guess, but I don't think that RPGs need to be that heavy on killing pixels. I wonder what would have happened if they stuck with the Bioware Engine and dedicated their programming genius to the game itself. Perhaps there would have been a bigger difference between PC and console mode. Still a great game, but I expected more...

DA2 easily, I'm not going to rehash all my problems with the game, but it ultimately failed me on the most basic level, it wasn't fun to play, was just too stagnant and tedious.

behind on much of my games playing..so many I haven't tried or barely tried and so can't really judged
Biggest gaming disappointment being Shenmue 3 not being released
Steambot Chronicles 2 and Megaman Legends 3 are more realistic notable no-shows
and the announcements that the next Silent hill and ninja gaiden games would feature QTEs

of the games released it comes down to contrasting expectations/hopes with the finished product
and I'm afraid for this it has to be Dragon Age 2
I enjoyed it and would probably list it in my 10 favourite games of the year but my expectations/hopes were very high

In my opinion the witcher 2 shares the same problems as dragon age 2. the narritive cutscenes totally dominates this game and those cutscenes are kinda too longwinded and eventually make me feel boring.  Also I hate those QTEs, can we just hit ESC to skip those boring scripted sequences? The good thing is this game at least has very good story branching. I did somehow enjoy it. at least it's worth the release price.

All the game I bought have been great (only bought 5 games, actually) but I heard Revelation wasn't as good as previous Assassin's Creed. No surprise since it came out one year after the previous one.

I didn't say that I only have Heroes VI. I realized other disappointing games by reading professional and users reviews ... YES, they're helpful.

Gears of War 3
Ocarina of Time 3D (so far)
Dead or Alive Dimensions
Lord of Arcana
Final Fantasy IV The Complete Collection
Mortal Kombat
inFamous 2 (only got it because the first game was free and I decided I wanted to find out what happens in the sequel)
White Knight Chronicles II
Dark Souls
Saints Row: The Third
Batman: Arkham city
Fable III

Wish I played:
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in The Sky

It should just be noted that I got a 3DS a few weeks before christmas, I was going to wait til christmas.

Anyway, as you can see there was plenty games I enjoyed this year.  Those are the games that were released this year, the majority of the year was Dragon Age II and catching up on games from previous years, including Mass Effect 2.

FEAR 3. everything about it was bad.

Oh **** you're right! I should have replaced Assassin's Creed Revelations with F.E.A.R. 3. Goddamn they screwed up the series badly.

*clears throat* I'm an official moderator on the F.E.A.R. Forums and... well... let's just say that I agree with everyone's disappointments about that game since the time of release. The forum is very empty now mainly because... well... I think it was unanimous in agreement that F.E.A.R. 3 wasn't a great game. Talk about a bloody disjointed storyline :\\

This man understands ... Skyrim is more an Adventure-Action game (Count it as shooter!)
I'm really sad for wasting 90 hours of my life on it. I'll finish it soon (ignoring all remained side missions)

Yet another vote for DA2: sorry for the lack of originality.  I hasten to add that in keeping with the topic title, it's the most disappointing: I'd hesitate to say it's the worst, in spite of its flaws, but it's not what I'd expected.

- The Witcher 2: I kept hearing such great things about the game but it didn't do it for me. The game failed in making me care about anything and I got so bored I stopped playing without finishing it.

- Rage: Fortunately it was a gift.
