Any "evil" character is fine by me, as long as they have a personality aside from that one thing.

"For the greater good". His methods are questionable and he's an idealist, probably even a fanatic - but he's still aims to be good.elfdwarf wrote...
anders will do anything help mages and he have uncontrollable spirit,
Punishing slavers is considered a good thing, and though he dislikes mages, that doesn't goes beyond whining.fenris will do anything for freedom and he have uncontrollable anger toward mages,
Blood magic is just a magic which uses blood instead of lirium, nothing bad about it outside of chantry beliefs.merril will do anything help her clan and she is blood mage ,if you don't see grey in those character, i could give spoiler
So no, they are all good persons who care deeply for others and never do anything bad, except for Anders who has mental problems due to spirit merging.

BioWare seems to be trying to distance itself from hero/villain roleplay, instead opting for hero/anti-hero roleplay. Everything is Paragon/Renegade and all the grey areas in-between, rather than being about good versus evil. No matter what sort of character you are, you're going to save the world or the galaxy or whatever, you just have the option to be a no-nonsense bastard about it if "goody two-shoes" isn't to your fancy.
A major reason why my interest in the DA series is low. I don't want to play as the good guy or the renegade, I want to be closed fist. One of my hopes is that bioware seen the amount of people that played Sith/darkside in TOR, and realize the DA 3 needs a 'dark' path. Not only does it interest people, but it encourages multiple playthroughs. Someone playing the game longer keeps it from being traded in and keeps an interest in DLC for longer.
As for evil companions, the answer is obviously yes. If they match Jerro, Bishop and OoM, then all the better.
However I have little faith the DA team will do this. They're obsessed with making everyone gray, which gets too familiar.

Blood Magic is different. Consorting with demons is different. Trivial lies and drive for power is different.

In DA2 no companion can betray or turn on you, even Isabella's escape served as the only example...and a badly implemented one.

Shades of grey is better than black and white.
This would work better. We can have EVIL slanted characters in a sense, but that would take some fanagling to make it work.
For example, a lot of people like the idea of a Tevinter Blood Mage as a companion. He would likely have views that oppose people, so we can have him go through conflict with an Elf in the party over that slavery issue we love to talk about. He would likely be racist, and pursue his own goals, but perspective is what makes him evil, not action. Kind of like how Anders/Fenris were treated in Dragon Age II.
This would be a perfect candidate for the friendship/rivalry system, because those who disagree may only follow for their own goals, but also grow respect for the PC leadership. That gives the evil character much more depth, they may disagree, but they help each other, and maybe they can grow through this too.

It is always possible to add a reason for this supposed Evil Companion to cooperate with the PC.

Fenris, Merrill, Aveline and Sebastian can turn on you/leave you at the games end.

If they joined you it would be for their own gain of power and money so i could only see it being possible with a "truly" evil character if they allowed your character to become a true bad guy as well.
And by evil characters i mean self centered, absolutely only caring about themselves that do not mind stepping on people to get what it is they want.

It would be nice to have some "real" characters with depth. Like the characters in Dragon Age Origins.
Wishful thinking no doubt.

I bet disillusioned Alistair, r Merill, angered at the dalish, or Anders, accepting the Blood Magic as the only solution would be interesting companions.

@Plaintiff - And yes, Anders was evil. because his cause, right or wrong, he murdered innocents and thought that was fine. The whole "ends justify the means crap".
two words: Collateral damage.
I would definetly like a brutal, sadistic companion, someone to counter balance all the goodies we get lumbered with. A Jarlaxle, or Saverok, or a 'dead' Larry, some one in to violence and cruelty as a way to gain power and respect. Basically a villian protagonist. Hell sign me up for some Dark Brotherhood style side quests.
