It kind of was, yeah. Bioware took quite a few liberties with the classes and their powers/trainable weapons. We had Legion with Tali's powers but apparently he's an Infiltrator. We have Garrus using ARs but he uses Overload. Samara is an Adept to the fullest, but she can use ARs. Thane is a biotic but uses sniper rifles, as well.

That's just off the top of my head.

That's because a lot of the ME2 cast were hybrids, not full on <X class here>.

Miranda was a biotic/tech, Garrus was soldier/tech, Thane was biotic/Infiltrator, Jacob was a biotic/soldier etc.

Though I will admit they got lazy with Tali and Legion. The ONLY difference between the 2 are weapon choices, and Legion has Tali beat in weapon use. Assault rifles + Snipers rifles beat out Shotguns and pistols.

Regardless of the reasons, the ME2 squad was still a mess.

^It was not a mess, each one had their very own class, none of them were infiltrators or adepts or anything Shepard can be.

No he just had a Widow, 2/2 Geth Shielding (600 shields), and Geth Shield Boost (another 400 shielding). Tali is **** nest to Legion.

Whether or not that's true, that wasn't the point. The point was that they aren't identical.

Eh both are alright. Legion was the walking codex in ME2 instead of Tali. But gameplay wise Legion is up there with Mordin, Jack, and Miranda.

I loved Samara. I always liked that she was the older, dare I say MILF.... (In a good way) character that longed for her younger self and dreams... versus her older, determination. Even if you can't romance her in ME3, I'd be damned if she isn't gonna be in my squad at some point, if not all.

I guess I should have said their starting powers, which are actually reflective of their classes.

Co-sign. Samara was super redundant as a squadmate. Throw can be had from Thane or 2/3 biotic Shepards, Pull can be had from Jack or Jacob and again 2/3 biotic Shepards as well. Reave is not awfully useful to anyone besides the one who holds that power either. Not to mention SMG/AR weapon loadout, between which the difference is negligble to a squadmate.

Meanwhile Liara, who's a fraction of Samara's age, has SINGULARITY (only available to Adept!Shep), WARP (easily the best offensive powers in the game), and STASIS (easily one of the most useful biotic powers available). Man, if Samara had those skills I'd actually use her.

Maybe if they hadn't made Liara so OP they wouldn't have had to contrive a reason to K.O. your second squadmate in the Shadow Broker showdown.

We can't have that now. A plot or arc that doesn't revolve around Liara's greatness does not belong in Mass Effect.

Lol. For the love of ****, I hope shes barely in ME3. She was such a bad character.

What are you talking about? She is my favorite squadmate. ^_^

And she plays the same ( different opinion ) in ME3 as Samara does. So she is in for the same period of time.

He has some sort of weird anti-fetish with anything that isn't Tali.

Well, I still don't want other people to miss content in ME3. And the less content Samara get's, the less content Morinth get's, cuz for Bioware they are twins.
