The cooldown time is 6 seconds... can I make that any less.  I read on the wiki that:

"Charge is intentionally unaffected by the Biotic Cooldown upgrade; It is affected by all other cooldown effects though."

What are these all other cooldowns?
(is the Biotic Cooldown upgrade /the one that doesn't work for charge/ the one that you buy with minerals from the planets?)
Is it taking about choosing Champoin for -15% cooldown?  Are there any other ways to charge faster because -15% is only 1 second... maybe another second off and that would be good.

Only looking to play on Normal... just saw a video where someone used cryo ammo to good effect. I though cryo ammo was terrible, he's using the Locust.

Should I just use warp ammo and the Claymore?     Locust / cryo ammo seems like it's going to fail as I've read other people having trouble playing as vanguard.  Image IPB

Thanks!

It will probably mean that the cooldown for Charge is unaffected by the upgrades you can buy, but it is affected by your passive ability as a Vanguard, i.e. if you fully upgrade your passive and take Champion, it will reduce the cooldown on charge by 15%.

Why would you waste your bonus power on Warp Ammo? On normal difficulty hardly any enemies have barrier defences anyway, so Inferno Ammo would be the best ammo choice by far for you to use.

Cryo ammo is of little benefit for you to use yourself, but if you fully upgrade to squad cryo ammo, so your squad-mates can use it, that gives you more freedom to charge without fear of being surrounded. On normal difficulty I wouldn't bother with Cryo ammo at all though; you'd be better off maximising Inferno ammo and Shockwave.

Shotgun choice is down to you're preferred style, though on normal difficulty, Claymore should take down most enemies quickly.

You can use Claymore and Inferno ammo to great effect. Others like taking either ARs or SRs as an alternate weapon and using either the Scimitar(often with Cryo) or Eviscerator(my favorite). Don't waste you points on Warp or AP ammos, as with Inferno and Cryo you have better already.

Once you get the shield upgrades and are a Champion you really don't have to worry about charge time so much, since your shields are recharged on Charge and they don't blow off so fast after hardening(though on normal they may not anyway). Have fun and expect to die until you get the hang of it, it is the nature of Vanguard to be high risk high reward, though you may find yourself using Charge less and your other Biotic powers more on the lower level difficulties.

If you are only going to work up close with the Vanguard then the Claymore is a good choice. I ended up playing that class with the Eviscerator and then taking sniper training so I could get the Viper.

I like slam as a bonus so you can have an "oh crap" button early in the game before you have many pts to spread around and you can't just chain charge all over the place.

The passive is the only thing that reduces the charge cooldown.
Champion vs Destroyer
---------------------------
Biotic charge Base cooldown = 6 sec
                                   theo
Evolution percent cooldown Kronner Fraps measurement
Champion     15%       5.10           4.90
Destroyer       9%        5.46           5.20

If you are playing on normal then cryo ammo will be fun because protections will be down, cryo ammo is great on insanity, where you have to remove protections before it does anything.  Shotguns are the best at getting the ammo effects because of the way the pellets are considered ( thats a long discussion ) but put either cryo or Inferno on your shotgun of choice and you will start seeing the effects quickly.

But I love the claymore anyway, so Inferno ammo + Claymore = lots of fire dancing bad guys.

Edit: fixed the darn formatting!

Sounds like fun!  Thanks  :o  (maybe cryo ammo / locust.        shoot > freeze > charge)
