Is TIM really a bad guy or is Cerberus attacking and TIM is "faking" the total indoctrination? (Speculation)

I want to go through ME2 again and would like your opinions on if I should trust the illusive man... I'm either going to do everything he asks (save base, leave guy on tubes etc) or I'm going to do the complete opposite of what he says!
Unfortunately I can decide...  any proof that TIM may be a "good guy" in ME3 despite his apparent "bad" actions in ME2?  :?
(I want him to be a surprise good guy but seriously... TIM... a good guy... <_<)

Judging by how the books (especially Retribution) are setting him up, I think he'll be a bad guy. He DOES still want to save humanity, but he sacrifices lives needlessly to reach his goals. Plus the alien hate thing isn't really a good thing when you have an army of giant evil sentient machines trying to destroy the galaxy. In that case, your going to need as many allies as you can get. Although some would consider TIM a good guy, I would not.

Trust TIM? Never.

Is it REALLY saving Humanity if Humanity itself doesn't survive? TIM & Cerberus & Co are doing a **** good job of killing humans.

Expecting TIM to be trustworthy is about as clever as pointing a gun at your foot and expecting it won't hurt to pull the trigger.

If you people desperately need to be Cerberus, at least have the decency to deposd TIM and take it over yourself. Do not trust him.

^This, it was very obvious in ME2 that TIM would betray Shepard several time's

*Summons Shepard*
"Commander Shepard.."
*Takes drag on his ciggarette*
"Illusive Man.."
-Awesome-
The ILLUSIVE man is a very interesting character. His methods might be questionable but he does good for Humanity. He wants Humanity to come out on top once the reaper threat is eliminated. He is what everyone actually wants as a leader. People might not admit it but his way gets the job done. No politics or red tape. Get it done, by any means necessary.

Sure, if the option were actually there. I'd have no qualms with a seperate Cerberus path that has TIM turning on you near the end, as long as the path itself is actually there.

That is exactly is going to happen we owe him nothing it was obvious from the get go that tim will betray you and I never will trust him. If I get the chance i'm removing TIM and any cereberus operative at the first chance I get except for miranda I will let her live.

That would be interesting enough that I would play it should it miraculously materialize.

"Trust", and "The Illusive Man" should never be used in the same sentence ever, unless a single "never" is placed before trust.

I hate Cerberus.

If the guns clip is empty my cleverness is quite valid.

You can trust TIM as far as you can trust a live cobra. They both bite and can kill you if you cros them. Except shepard who seems to be immune to TIM.

I have always seen TIM as a sort of future Hitler; good intentions, very bad methods. And, no the ends NO NOT justify the means

Well it all depends on what you think the Illusive Man is fighting for and what is goals are.

Do you believe that he wants to see humanity prosper and that he opposes the Reapers? Then you can trust him to do that so you should be willing to cooperate with him. That means saving the Collector base.

Just remember: TIM is an advocate of humanity, not necessarily an advocate of Shepard. You and anyone else can be sacrificed for humanity's benefit.

The Illusive Man is loosely based off The Cigarette Smoking Man from The X-Files. Whenever he appeared, you knew something bad was going to happen.
