 First of all, I'm not sure if this thread is appropriate in this board seeing as most threads are about already existing characters, but I figured it was as close as I could get.

The other day I decided to start a new character in mass effect and get him up to speed for the upcoming mass effect 3. Towards the final mission of the first game (possible spilers, I doubt it though seeing as this board is for the third game in the series), I came across the little pods where protheans were being frozen for later use after the whole reaper thing subsided. Of course, all of the pods had been turned off a good while ago, but what if somewhere else there was still a cryogenically frozen prothean and he was still being kept alive by an AI? It seems like a viable way to add a new character without having to invent new races like the vorcha or drell, and the plot would fit like a glove. I'd say it's pretty likely that BioWare would do something like that.

Ah the Protheans....An ancient race of sentient beings who supposedly created the Citadel and Mass Relays than were wiped out by the "Reapers" We have dismissed both these claims.

Exactly. The cipher is pretty much the primary reason why Shepard is so important in this whole ordeal. Having a literal prothean running around with the team seems kind of redundant.
