The Puppet Master Engineer uses AI Hacking and Dominate to control the battlefield by forcing enemies to fight for you. The Engineer's Combat Drone (A.K.A the Glowing Light of Awesome) can distract enemies and can sometimes even completely prevent them from attacking. The Puppet Master Engineer is never at a loss for squadmates.

Build Strategy:
I imported a Level 60 character from Mass Effect 1. After completing Lazarus Station, Shepard was at rank 6, allowing me to put 2 points into AI Hacking:

Level 6 Puppet Master Engineer:
1 - Overload
0 - Incinerate
2 - Combat Drone
2 - Cryo Blast
1 - AI Hacking
1 - Tech Mastery
1 - Dominate

As I level up, I plan to allocate points in the following order:
1. Completing Freedom's Progress gains you two more skill points. Put these two points into Dominate to get it to rank 2. Dominate starts becoming useful at rank 2.
2. Evolve Tech Mastery to shorten power cooldowns and increase Research Bonuses; Engineers with greater Tech Mastery use less resources for research projects, so less planet scanning. I evolve it Mechanic to lengthen the duration of all my powers except Overload.
3. Get Dominate then AI Hacking to rank 3. After Freedom's Progress, you mainly face organics until you finish Horizon, so putting points into Dominate before AI Hacking is a better idea. You will face more synthetic enemies after Horizon. Level 3 AI Hacking and Dominate is sufficient for basic enemies.
4.Evolve the following powers in order: Dominate, AI Hacking, Combat Drone, Cryo Blast.

Level 30 Puppet Master Engineer
1 - Overload (Pyro Detonator)
0 - Incinerate
4 - Attack Drone
4 - Improved AI Hacking
4 - Full Cryo Blast
4 - Mechanic
4 - Enhanced Dominate

Weapons:
Pistol: Predator and Carnifex
SMG: Shuriken, Locust, and Tempest
Bonus weapon: Shotgun, Katana and Eviscerator

Did Kasumi's loyalty mission for the Tech Damage upgrade. I had a lot of fun on this mission.

Recruiting the Convict (Jack)

I took Garrus (Overload) and Jacob (Squad Incendiary Ammo), but I did not play very well and I kept dying. So I switched out Jacob with Mordin. Did not have too much trouble after that.

Harbinger is not the only one who can assume control:
Horizon part 1 - Exploring the Colony
Horizon part 2 - The Defense Towers

And some N7 assignments for crucial upgrades:
N7:Anomalous Weather Detected and N7:Blood Pack Base

Collector Ship platforms:
Disabled Collector Ship part 1 - The Platforms

Sometimes Harbinger will assume control of dominated Collector, and for a few seconds he may even fight for you. But that also means you eventually have to take Harbinger down. With the Scions and Harbinger both attacking you, spamming Drone and the Avalanche was just better, so I only used Dominate a couple of times at the end.

I included some bonus footage at the end showing just how good the Combat Drone can be on the platforms.

Disabled Collector Ship part 2 - The Escape

The first part moves along pretty well before the Praetorian fight brings it to a screeching halt. I probably should have cut that part out. At the very least, you may find some humor in the Praetorian constantly turning around to look at the Drone. The pace picks up at the end.

Grunt's Loyalty Mission

The Varren were the hardest. Klixen are easy and the Thresher Maw just takes long. Wish I had the Claymore for the Thresher Maw fight. Or a sniper rifle.

I had a lot of fun on Zaeed's Loyalty Mission. Pyros can be very effective squadmates. Almost a shame I took the paragon path, just not enough enemies to dominate.

I'm doing an Insanity play through this career right now. However, I tend to keep both 'Hack and Dominate low (rank 2 on both). Nonetheless, it's surprisingly easy a playthrough.

Cheers!

You are very good with the Drone, hack and dominate combo to create much havoc among the enemies....I like it and it is something I need to practice more....

Good Vids.

Finished Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC:
Lair of the Shadow Broker part 2 - Broker Ship Exterior
Lair of the Shadow Broker part 3 - Defending the Hatch
Lair of the Shadow Broker part 4 - Broker Ship Interior

I had a lot of trouble on Lair of the Shadow Broker. I wanted to use the Scimitar on the Shadow Broker fight, but that meant using from the Ship Exterior until the end. I suck with the Scimitar, so I switched back to the Katana which I feel more comfortable using. I died a lot, which thankfully does not show up in the results.

The Derelict Reaper mission is ridiculously easy for Engineers and Infiltrators: Your Incineration Blast > Mordin's Cryo Blast > repeat = no more husks. Samara's Throw Field is also very quick.

Oh wait, the Puppet Master Engineer does not have Incinerate.

Is triple AI Hacking overkill? Not really.

Tali's Loyalty Mission
Legion's Loyalty Mission

For Tali's Loyalty Mission, I had to be careful when using the Drone. The Drone can kill spawn points (happened once off camera) and can even trigger the cutscene early.

Good stuff. Saw the Horizon one. You map Y to the drone, one bumper to cryo and another to either dominate or hack?

Yes.

Generally, you face either only organic or only synthetic enemies, so you can usually pick either AI Hacking and Dominate at the beginning of a mission and stick with it to the end.

Thane's recruitment mission is really the only mission where you will face both synthetic and organic enemies at the same time. In that case, I used AI Hacking until only organic enemies remained, since it is the more powerful and reliable option.

Completed the Suicide Mission. I included the Oculus fight to show how the Drone can lock down the Oculus and also take the Oculus's focus off of you.

Suicide Mission part 1 - The Oculus
Suicide Mission part 2 - Infiltration and The Long Walk
Suicide Mission part 3 - Reaper Larva

Also started Arrival. Kenson is a terrible squadmate. Luckily I have Drone and Dominate.
