*Please excusse my bad speeling*

Now that mass effect 3 is just around the corner, people will undoubtably be playing through mass effect 1 and 2 in order to get their 'perfect' run through. I have completed Mass Effect 2 only twice but I already have it just the way I like it. I first got mass effect 2 and completed it with all squad members surviving the final mission and so on but when I realized how much I loved the game I got mass effect 1 so I could do my own perfect run through.

The first time I did the suicide mission on Mass Effect 2  my adrenalin was really going- I had no idea if any of my crew members would die (I was especially scared when my LI Tali almost fell off that platform when the human reaper fell) and was really happy when they all lived. On my second run through it was not so- I knew what was coming and what to do and I suddenly found myself annoyed that I and my 13 crew members could all survive the mission which for the whole game people were telling me was impossible to do. So I decided to let some guys die.

I got up to the suicide mission having got everyone to be loyal and having done all but four of the side missions but I purposefully chose for legion and jacod to die. (I wanted at least two to die and they were my least favourite members of the crew). Jacob got eated by bugs and legion was shot and I must say that though it may mean I wont meet them in Mass Effect 3 I still prefer it to "This will be the most dagerous mission evah and you will die lol" followed by an easy mission.

So did anyone else let squadmembers die for drama's sake? If so who? And do you think a mission that can be done easily with a little bit of planning should really be referred to as a 'suicide' mission?

I have let Thane die a few times since his days are numbered. In another playthrough where I gave the base to TIM I killed off Miranda and Jacob plus a few others. Only in my first playthrough did I have someone die that wasn't on purpose.

There have been people who killed everyone but the 2 they needed to survive. They've even gone so far as to figure out how to get different squad mates killed or left alive. It's all in the stickied suicide mission thread.

Out of my six playthroughs, only one of them I purposely let as many die as I could, pro-cereberus, gave Legion to TIM, I forgot I could give Grunt to Cerberus but he died anyway, in that playthough Zaeed, Morinth and a renegade Jack, that won't give my Shep the time of day after bumping uglies in her little hole place where she hangs out, survived.

I've given consideration to letting Morinth kill Samara, then getting Morinth killed on the suicide mission - or vice versa. Samara's code of justice just seems like an unknown quantity. Even if she deems Shepard to be on the side of good (My "perfect" playthrough is Colonist/Ruthless/Paragade), I don't know if I'd trust her not to start pasting other crew members after her vow expires for some infraction or another. That said, if we're going meta, I wouldn't trust Samara to keep everyone else alive on the suicide mission if she were put in charge of a fireteam, either (and Morinth even less so).

Sure, it'll make things more interesting once ME3 rolls around. In my current playthrough, I've actually got a list of people I want (or am willing to allow) to kill off. Miranda is at the top of the list, mostly because she's rather hard to kill without killing anyone else, much to my annoyance.

Yeah same, I tried killing Miranda today and it didn't work. Only Jacob and Jack died. I even failed with getting Thane to die. Maybe I shouldn't have fully upgrade my ship. I had four non loyal squad mates ans only one of them died(Jacob)

I've done it with several of my characters just for the sake of variety and to see the differences in ME3's content.
