Now that mass effect 3 is just around the corner, people will undoubtably be playing through mass effect 1 and 2 in order to get their 'perfect' run through. I have completed Mass Effect 2 only twice but I already have it just the way I like it. I first got mass effect 2 and completed it with all squad members surviving the final mission and so on but when I realized how much I loved the game I got mass effect 1 so I could do my own perfect run through.
The first time I did the suicide mission on Mass Effect 2 my adrenalin was really going- I had no idea if any of my crew members would die (I was especially scared when my LI Tali almost fell off that platform when the human reaper fell) and was really happy when they all lived. On my second run through it was not so- I knew what was coming and what to do and I suddenly found myself annoyed that I and my 13 crew members could all survive the mission which for the whole game people were telling me was impossible to do. So I decided to let some guys die.
I got up to the suicide mission having got everyone to be loyal and having done all but four of the side missions but I purposefully chose for legion and jacod to die. (I wanted at least two to die and they were my least favourite members of the crew). Jacob got eated by bugs and legion was shot and I must say that though it may mean I wont meet them in Mass Effect 3 I still prefer it to "This will be the most dagerous mission evah and you will die lol" followed by an easy mission.
So did anyone else let squadmembers die for drama's sake? If so who? And do you think a mission that can be done easily with a little bit of planning should really be referred to as a 'suicide' mission?
