sound blaster xfi extreme gamer (2.18.0015 beta)
direct x 9c
Hi.
I have a similar problem as "everybody" else in here that get to nothing happen screen, after launching
the game on a Win7 (64)
but before i wanna get to that that i have encounter an overlapping barrier when i have
stubborn reinstalled the game back and forth cause of the blackscreen
My computer now appears to get some allergic reaction out of my RETAIL serial upon my re-installations
http://imageshack.us...s/829/fisc.jpg/
as this screenshot shall indicate it goes direct from succesfully typed serial to a auto cancelation of the installation upon me pressing NEXT.
I have allready make sure the game is fully uninstalled before this, and bonus registry remnants of ME that
may? cause cancelations i cant find myself, all reg searches on mass effect gives mass effect 2 hits only and that cant be removed as you understand.
The only thing i can do in this situation i guess is to stil ask for suggestions of KNOWN? reg remnants on my computer to try, or what else?.

I do have the instructions for manual removal of ME2 handy, so you can possibly use iot as a guide, replacing the ME2 text with ME1, and see how you go.
If these dont work, you can give either CCleaner or Glary Utilities a try to see if they will get rid of the dead reg entries.
On 64-bit systems, like Vista 64 or Windows 7 64bit, registry keys can be found in the following directory: HKLM\\Software\\WOW3264Node\\Electronic Arts\\Mass Effect 2
Click the Start button on the Windows Taskbar.
Select Run.
Type regedit in the text field and click OK.
Click File and select Export.
Name the file "Backup" (without the quotation marks) and make sure the Export Range is set to All.
Click Save. (You will now be returned to the Registry Editor window.)
Click the plus (+) sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Click the plus (+) sign next to Software.
Click the plus (+) sign next to BioWare.
Right-click the Mass Effect 2 folder and select Delete.
Click the plus (+) sign next to Microsoft.
Click the plus (+) sign next to Windows.
Click the plus (+) sign next to CurrentVersion.
Click the plus (+) sign next to Uninstall.
Right-click the key named {75D84EF7-0D8C-4e70-B3FA-7B42A5D4E0EB} and select Delete.
A Confirm Key Delete window will appear; select Yes.
Close the Windows Registry Editor.
Go to the following folder: C:\\Program Files\\InstallShield Installation Information.
If you cannot find this folder you may have to go to Tools > Folder Settings and click the setting to "SHOW hidden folders."
Find the folders with the exact same values as the registry keys above and delete them.
Right-click the Recycle Bin and select Empty Recycle Bin.

EA have recently "upgraded" their site, and all of the old links I used to have on how to manually remove registry entries have been removed.

There is no Mass effect 1 folders left in registry, next i dont find that key

at location Uninstall, instead similar names in 5 places related to ME2 only
http://imageshack.us...s/267/fis3.jpg/
and i cant delete any M2 keys right? if i intend to get that stil starting when im done
or shall i?.
Otherwise than that i have fixed my registry further with CC Cleaner, Glary Utilities and Advanced System Care 5 and it doesnt stop the cancelations unf.

edit: Is this the EA Value Games edition? If so, then that will more than likely be the problem. The VG edition had a metric crapton of problems due to dodgy disks being supplied.
The only real solution to it would be to contact EA support, and get them to add it to your account for download from Origin, or possible add the cd key to your Steam account (if you have one) and download from there.
Will still check when I get home anyway.

Those instructions for the ME2 manual uninstall I got emailed to me by a support rep, so if the "talk to" option doesnt work, you can always try an email. It might take a day or two for them to get back to you though.
Call me blind, but i dont find their support mail, can you give me you url, thanks
