(Minor spoilers ahead)
At the begining of the Earth mission Anderson gives Shepard an M3-Predator pistol to use.
(Spoilers End)
Now if look at the Weapon description from Mass Effect 2 for the M3-predator pistol we'll reed this.
This is a reliable, accurate sidearm; effective versus armor, but weak versus shields and biotic barriers.
Manufactured by Elanus Risk Control, the Predator is valued as a powerful, deadly, and relatively inexpensive weapon. While it is not generally deployed in the military, due to commonality of kinetic barriers, it’s still very popular in the Terminus Systems where these defenses are less common.
So How come that the Alliance, which is one of the most advanced military's in the galaxy would still have use for such an outdated piece of equipment? Would't the M5-Phalanx made more sense cus that is actually an Alliance Weapon?

Simple, Anderson keeps a back-up pistol designed for penetrating armor while his main weapon is designed to combat enemy barriers. Seeing that Shepard is going to be fighting armored opponents, he tosses Shepard that weapon. Besides, "not generally deployed in the military" does not mean that a military officer can not and will not have such a pistol.
No. Anderson's clearly a dual-1887's kind of guy. After all, he did appear in MW2 pretending to be Sgt. Foley.

He also likes plasma guns, pretending to be the Arbiter.

Well if it is a troll OP then a pretty good one. Because he got us good.
I was wondering if some people were going to take the bait lol. The OP will probably do his damn best to argue this but at this point its just silly to argue about it. Plus the Predator may not be generally deployed in militaries it doesn't mean that some people won't have it. Hell the pistol is basically based off of the very first pistol you get in ME1.
Seriously getting annoyed by this is just idiotic. Yes I know I may seem like a douche for saying that but even if you are someone who does take lore seriously in sci fi then you also must know that most sci fi always have some mistake in lore. Hell it isn't just sci fi that will have some mistakes in lore its all fiction.

Oh yeah that guy is so dying in my playthrough now (if I can get him killed). I hate those weapons so freaking much lol.
