Look I am usually one of the biggest whiners about lore around here, but that doesn't break the lore a all. Hell the wording even says "usually" deployed.

There are plenty of ways to explain it away.

More like, BioWare seems to have a list of priorities covering what they believe is most important, and continuity does not, in all cases, occupy the number one spot.

More like Bioware fans need to pick and choose their continuity battles more wisely.  To be fair, everyone here does think the OP is being ridiculous.

Manufactured by Elanus Risk Control, the Predator is valued as a powerful, deadly, and relatively inexpensive weapon. While it is not generally deployed in the military, due to commonality of kinetic barriers, it’s still very popular in the Terminus Systems where these defenses are less common.[/i]

I think you don't understand the "not generally" part.

It means that it's not in use by all military personel, but it's there.

Also, Shepard is a civilian/not part of the Alliance military at that point.

One more thing to consider: Is this the same Codex that says Haestrom has no atmosphere, and that there is a human colony in the Terminus systems that was founded before 2148?

The world is going to end because Shepard doesn't have to right gun oh no it can't be. Oh wait most likely when you get back on the Normandy you would will be able to change the weapon.

So ? The lore about this point is still respected.

Or are you saying that bioware can do whatever it wants since the lore has no real meaning  ?

So having seen the leaked footages i again found evidence that Bioware again doesn't really seem to understand  the very same things that they have established earlier.

(Minor spoilers ahead)

At the begining of the Earth mission Anderson gives Shepard an M3-Predator pistol to use.

(Spoilers End)

Now if look at the Weapon description from Mass Effect 2 for the M3-predator pistol we'll reed this.

This is a reliable, accurate sidearm; effective versus armor, but weak versus shields and biotic barriers.

Manufactured by Elanus Risk Control, the Predator is valued as a powerful, deadly, and relatively inexpensive weapon. While it is not generally deployed in the military, due to commonality of kinetic barriers, it’s still very popular in the Terminus Systems where these defenses are less common.

So How come that the Alliance, which is one of the most advanced military's in the galaxy would still have use for such an outdated piece of equipment? Would't the M5-Phalanx made more sense cus that is actually an Alliance Weapon?

Why would Alliance use such an outdated, weaker weapon?

Oh my God. The Predator Pistol is the ultimate Pistol. But THE PEREDATOR to be honest.

Just kidding homie. Lets not judge right now because that was a leak. Maybe they will change it.

Seriously. Is this the complaint? The use of an outdated weapon? Really? Of all the things to complain about?

I dunno. Why would the US Marine Corps use outdated, bolt-action Springfield rifles at Guadalcanal, when their Army counterparts in other theaters (North Africa for example) were already being issued the superior M1 Garand?

After reading the initial post, I have two words on the subject: who cares? That text that was underlined says "not generally deployed in the military" which is not the same as "NEVER deployed in the military." Like police officers, presumably some military personnel are allowed to use weapons of their choice as backups or as their primary weapon. In fact, I'm going with the OP flat-out trolling - that or it's asinine nitpicking based on his/her failure at reading comprehension.

I am sorry to say that I absolutely agree with you Atreiya. Is that pronounced Al-tree-yah? Cool name if so.

Look this is not a lore contradiction. No it is not. Let me say this again. This is not a contradiction in lore. Millitary personel do use outdated weapons (especially if they still work). Also as another well informed person said, "Reapers coming from the Heavens! This pistol was all he had!!!!!"

The only indication that "the Alliance" uses this weapon is that in a demo Anderson gives one to Shepard. Anderson has many reasons to own such a pistol, being "Alliance" least among them. He's a well travelled soldier himself, who could have taken liking to it over years of service and tours of duty. It's also noted to be popular in the Terminus Systems, where sheilds are less common, exactly where Anderson not only found himself recently, but broke up a fight. Last, Anderson is not the Alliance, he's one man, on who's back the lore should not be resting.

funny how  people let the little facts like  Reapers doing their rendition of "Rain Drops on Earths window" in red beams of doom  get in the way of making an agrument  that Bioware is breaking their lore.

Probably a little of both.

And considering the situation, Shep should be happy that Anderson was able to give him a gun to begin with.

Close enough - more like Ah-tree-yah or Ah-tray-ah (I'm fine with either variation).

ALSO ANDERSON WENT TO OMEGA DIDN'T HE?! IN BETWEEN ME2 AND ME3 SO HE MIGHT HAVE PICKED ONE UP THERE AS THEY ARE USED IN THE TERMINUS SYSTEMS. WHEN REAPERS ATTACKED HE KEPT HIS OWN GUN AND GAVE SHEP THE OTHER GUN HE HAD.
