Hard to say as each have their own distinct flavors, hard to pick one over the other but if I were to pick favorites I would have to say either medieval fantasy or cyberpunk, that being said however if the game is good I am up for anything.

As for settings I would like to see in the future I cant remember the last rpg we had with a more oriental setting since Jade Empire.

Sci Fi or medieval/dark fantasy. Definitely not high fantasy, which has run its course.

Where exactly does the line sit between high fantasy and low fantasy? Where does low fantasy stop and high fantasy begins?

1. Medieval Fantasy - Played a lot these. Current favorite is Skyrim.
2. Historical Fantasy - None that I've played.
3. Post-Apocalyptic - Liked Fallout. Never finished it though.
4. Horror - None played either.
5. Space/Future - KOTOR 1 and 2 were good. Mass Effect rules.
6. Steampunk - Nada.
7. Sea/Pirates - Nope.

So judging from what I've played, I'd have to lean to Medieval Fantasy. It's had the most number of titles under it, and seems really suited for that genre of videogame more than any other.

My favorites are:
1. Space/Future (Mass Effect, KotOR and others)
2. Medieval Fantasy (Skyrim, Divinity, Dragon Age and others)
I love Sci-Fi and Fantasy much more than others :)

I'd say in no particular order top 3 are:

Medievil/Dark fantasy
Modern Day (Not many RPG's actually use this setting)
Sci-Fi

leaning towards fantasy mainly because RPGs were originally created for that genre and sometimes when they do other genres it's just fantasy disguised to look like another genre.
But I'm happy with almost* any genre if it's done properly
(* No -I do not want the "My Little Pony" RPG)
More Far-eastern Fantasy (like Jade Empire) would be good

Odd how you even know about the MLP FiM RPG that's being made.. I would think only those 'in the loop' would be aware of it.

3. Haven't ever played any RPGs set in steampunk setting, but that would be cool

I don't quite follow how "horror" is considered a setting. Can you explain a bit more? Isn't it more of a genre / sub-genre?

Call of Cthulu: Dark Corners of the Earth is one of my all time favorites, set in the 1920s New England and based on the Lovecraft mythos. I'd love to see a Victorian era horror RPG as well, but I'm not aware of anything out there.

I'm not saying horror as in it has to scare you, but games that borrow a lot from the horror genre like: vampires, zombies, and werewolves type thing. I know several of these can be placed into sub-sub-sub categories and whatnot, but I'm just saying as a general thing.  As I said, I've seen a few that I've missed, but I've never seen an RPG set in present day--maybe Dead State might be.

Cyberpunk.

I would love to see an open game like Fallout 3, but in a cyberpunk setting like Deus Ex.
