I don't really care too much about the pre-load, there should be plenty of time to download still and be ready by the third, but if they have this kind of thing on launch day, I'm going to be pretty annoyed... and tell D2D not to expect me to order anything from them in the near future.
Direct2Drive not honouring preload, 20 gig download will wait for the 3rd?

To really rub it in they just sent out a come get it now email yet the page is still pre-ordered.
If Steam had any brains, they'd offer a discount and have us all cancel our orders and head over there!
Damn, beat me to it =)
Honestly, first time AND last time I'm using D2D,
but that ring looks so cool!

Lets not over react people... still 2 days till you can play anyway, is preload really that important? I am eagerly waiting for it to start too, but life won't end if it isn't going right away. D2D is a good service, judging them on this is.. wrong. Steam is late on things too ya know.

I've been using D2D since 2007. They're good, they're stable. I think we are all just a little too impaitent.
You need to realize how many people probably pre-ordered from them and plan on starting a download today.
That's a lot of stress.

And you are not only a troll but... you know what? I won't debase myself.
Again, we are paying customers. If I am even 10 minutes past due on my
credit card payments I get CHARGED. If I was 2 hours late for work I'd be
IN SERIOUS TROUBLE. Especially if Iwas announcing that I'll be EXTRA EARLY
for a month.
I do not have 100 Mbps like someone in japan. I'm LUCKY if I have anywhere
close to 5 Mbps. So yes, preload is ESSENTIAL.

Honestly, if I was told there was no preload, or that they would screw up the preload I would have TAKEN MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE! I find it very strange how everyone wants to coddle D2D as if they are a victim and not a massive company. That's great. Who needs honesty? So what if I pay for a certain service and do not recieve it? I'm just a whiner who thinks that I'm owed something because I paid money for it. I'm so stupid.

In fairness to D2D, when i pre-ordered Dragon Age 2 months ago there was no promise of a Preload.
So even though, in my eyes, it's poor form to be so late, it wasn't something I thought I was getting from the get-go so I'm not that disappointed.

Nothing to do with over reacting ...
D2D made a big deal about the preload including sending our email spam with links and all ...
When you are in the customer service business selling the *EXACT* *SAME* product as everyone else for the same price, this kind of thing is not acceptable.
It has nothing to do with getting the download, it's all about managing customer expectations and D2D has scored a big fat ZERO!
I picked D2D over Steam or DR because it *looked* to be the most reliable. They through their own accord have destroyed that impression completely.

Well if anyone is obsessing over it that much, steam's pre-load is up, so cancel the D2D order and skip on over to the steam website to get it.

They promised to deliver today at 10 AM PST. They advertised their product based on that promise. They failed to deliver it. There can simply be no excuse.

Stupid question, how do you cancel an order? I'm getting it on Steam ASAP.
I can't keep clicking the refresh button till the end of the day.

True enough, but you don't have to keep your pre-order with them. If I don't like a service, I use something else. At this point, it's not too late to change it, and you know another service is doing a better job, so it makes sense to me to switch. I've done it before with other games in the past (not this time since I work at a gamestop so I get in-store discounts), unless you got it for free or something, if you don't like it, don't stick with a service that isn't living up to your expectations.

I am downloading on Steam and so far I am not seeing any of the soundtracks or wallpapers for the DDE have any kind of encryption or locks of any kind. Maybe for you D2D users might have similar results. Something to do once it's done.

Can't say I'm pleased about this either. I've been raving to one of my coworkers for the past week about how I'd be preloading it on Sunday, and as of 15:10pm EST I'm still waiting for the link to activate, even though I got the "Your preload is ready :D" email about an hour ago.
The preload time was pushed back initially, I get that. It's bad customer service to send the come and get it email yet there's still nothing to come and get. Like many I preordered mine ages ago (June of this year to be exact) because they had the option up first. I normally buy everything from Steam so I took a chance on D2D beause they had the preorder option way before Steam did.
Now I'm kind of wishing I just stuck with Steam. Not exactly a good intro to D2D for me, since I told myself if this goes smoothly I'd be preordering the Saboteur from them before it comes out in December. Now I'm kind of thinking twice on that.

Maybe if those of you who are so unhappy go over to steam, it will help the rest of us patient types start our downloads sooner.

I want the game as much as the next person, and yes D2D has shot themselves in the foot, yet again. (I bought Total War II and was unable to register and activate for about 3-4 hours. It was lame.) However, D2D always delivers. Plus the bonus of having the files downloaded to the drive and available for backup is always a keen feature. Also unlimited activation. It will all work out. Everyone has the right to be upset about a service that was offered and not delivered upon. But complaining won't help just sit back and wait.

I personally will laugh if I see people cancel a D2D order just to get it on Steam, then panic that D2D people are playing it two hours earlier than they are on the 3rd. And if we're complaining that companies should stick to their release time, Dragon Age was supposed to be out in October. And before that, Spring. Stuff happens, if D2D gets their system up and working in the next hour or two, I don't see it as having as significant a detrimental effect as some of these posts suggest.

I don't know what Steam version you're downloading but my Steam version all the files are encrypted, if you try to open any of them, the JPGs, the MP3s, even the text files, all of them are gibberish.

There is no way to cancel preorders at Direct2Drive so we CAN'T go to steam. I refuse to pay twice for someone elses screw up. BTW, Direct2Drive shills, GOOD JOB!

Yeah I'm not too worried. I'm pretty patient I've got housework and errands to do but I'm trying to hold off until I can initiate the download and not worry about it. I'm sure it's coming good things come to those that wait.

It makes no difference aslong as it's out today, unless you have a really bad connection then i can't understand why you would opt for the digital version. Judging a company on one mess up is pretty shallow. Many companies have screwed things like this up. Just relax, your creeping me out.
