I've noticed people tend to have a variety of views of Kaidan.

I didn't like him a huge amount as a character, so most of my plays I'm mostly neutral to him, it probably doesn't really show his lighter side.
I think everyone's first impression of Kaidan is that he is the formal guy though (in my experience)

But I also think they would disagree on things such as professionality.
I also wondered if he might be irrational about biotics?

Argh maybe I'm just looking for reasons for characters to hate on Alenko.

He's got a pretty grounded view of of the biotic condition.  In the ME1 mission with the L2 extremists who kidnap Chairman Burns you see that he doesn't support their position.

honestly, Kaidan at least in ME1 is the kind of person who forms opinion about people on individual level, regardless of their origins, gender, species, etc.  he's the kind of person who might have difficulty getting close to a lot of people, but he would be friendly or at least polite with most if not all of them.  and I had a sence that Garrus and him became good friends (and as much as I hate Horizon, he calls Garrus by his first name, while in ME1, when you first meet him, he says officer Vakarian, so it seems that they have gotten more informal over the course of first game at least).  I cannot see him actively hating anyone on the squad.  TIM possibly.

The thing is we don't really get to know Kaidan or Ashley very well because we have to kill one of them off. Also I've been told that more convo opens up if Kaidan is your LI. Kaidan comes off as very professional and serious for several reasons. He is a L2 biotic which most people don't trust and that incident where he killed his instructor after he pulled a knife on Kaidan. So Kaidan personality at first is very self-controlled and somewhat reserved. It takes a while for you to encourage him to loosen up. People who have romanced him see the more romantic, caring, and concerned side of Kaidan once he is romanced.

As we are talking about about ME1/3 characters then here is my two cents. This would be post game including dlc

Liara
Likes: Shepard, Garrus, Tali, Wrex
Respects: Miranda, Samara (justicar!)
Tolerates: the rest of the ME2 squad, the VS
Hates:
The likes are pretty self explainatory Wrex goes from respect to like from the ME3 footage. Miranda gets 'respects' for bringing Shepard back and she doesn't know any of the rest of the ME2 crew to have significant opinions on them. Liara is fairly open about her opinion of Horizon hence tolerates.

Ashley
Likes: Garrus, Tali, Wrex
Respects: Mordin,Shepard?, Samara
Tolerates: Jack, Shepard?, Zaeed, Kasumi, Thane, Grunt, Liara
Hates: Miranda, Jacob, Legion
The likes and hates are pretty obvious. Mordin and Samara are both professionals and I think Ashley responds well to that. Shepard gets 2 entries depending on the conversation on Horizon and I think that Ashley would find Liara unrecognisable (working with Cerberus, information broker)

Kaiden
Likes: Garrus, Tali, Wrex
Respects: Mordin,Shepard?, Samara
Tolerates: Shepard?, Zaeed, Kasumi, Thane, Grunt, Liara, Legion,
Hates: Miranda, Jacob, Jack
Much as Ashley above although Kaiden I think would be more tolerant of the geth given he didn't lose so many friends on Eden Prime. I feel he would despise Jack for being the 'crazy biotic' stereotype he spends his whole life trying not to be.

I think Jack is more tolerant of Jacob. If you as her about him, she's dismissive rather than outright hostile like she is to Miranda. Also, judging by her dialogue and the ME3 leaks, I'd put Shep under the "likes" category by the end of the game.

Post was poorly written, to clarify I meant that vega seems unprofessional and I wondered if he would harbor irrational fear/suspicion of biotics. He comes across as the type to be a tad judge mental.

Hmmm I just feel that they might not get on (vega and Alenko that is) ... I feel it in my bones 

Kaidan likes renegade shepard.  he falls in love with renegade femshep.  He gets along with Garrus, who is very much a rule breaker.  I don't see why he would possibly hate Vega, he might possibly disaprove, but Vega would have to be a despicable individual for Kaidan to hate him.  i can see them get along very well.

I also can't see Vega harboring irrational fears, of biotics or otherwise.

also - I don't see Kaidan hating Jack.  pity her, yes, but not hate her.  he wasn't hateful towards L2 biotics in ME1, he was mildly disaproving and he wanted them to do the right thing, the right way.

Miranda...  again, don't see him hating her, maybe distrust her, but not hate her.  her motives were good.  as were jacob's, actualy.
