I'm getting ready to do the Landsmeet on my first Dragon Age: Origins playthrough, and I know you get the option to kill Loghain or not. I know Riordan presents the option of making him a Grey Warden, but is it possible to spare Loghain and keep Alistair in your party? Also, is it possible to make Loghain a Warden and keep Alistair in the party, or does he always leave?

If you spare Loghain, Alistair will leave - period.
It is, however, possible for Alistair to become King even if you spare Loghain (he will still leave your party).
Edit: Also, this is in the wrong forum, should be in the spoiler one.

I have a question about the landsmeet - How do I start it?!? I did Nature of the Beast, Circle of Mages (whatever it's called), The Last Paragon, and the Urn of Ashes. I should be all set, but Arl Eamon just says you're not ready for it, go out and get allies. Am I missing some allies? Elf, humans, dwarves, mages (I chose mages and not templars)... what else?
These quests show up under the "Completed Quests" tab under the "Blight" Section. And that's another thing - My Current Quest tab says I should talk to him. But when the game loads, it still says I need to get allies.
I've done everything I can think of short of uninstalling/reinstalling the game. I've opened up previous saves, I've done more side quests, I've talked to people in camp, I've restarted the game, restarted the computer, logged in/out. I don't know. it's actually making me angry.

I have. He says that I'm not ready and to get more allies. No conversation options available.
I don't have any mods and I don't have any patches for that matter either.

if you harden alistar by saying everyone is out for themselves in his side quest and marry him to anora he becomes king and logain becomes a grey warden though alistar will no longer be a companion
