It's nice to see that my beloved Claymore from Demon's Souls got a boost. Toting around in the Sunbro's armor with a claymore is incredibly satisfying. Lightning for flavor/magic resistant mobs.

Got it during the Christmas sale on steam and I am positively surprised. It's not as bad as I had imagined (although the plot has some weird holes from time to time).
Next week I'll get back to Mass Effect though. Have to start my epic franchise runthrough with all the books, comics and games in time to finish just on March 6th.

After that, probably Divine Divinity, Betrayal at Krondor, Ultima 7 or the original Fallout for the next LP. Unlike the others on the list, I've already played Fallout, but it'd be epic for a comedy/satire LP. A Chris Priestly or Stanley Woo type character would be hilarious provided it wouldn't be instantly locked.
But yeah, GOG was good for Christmas and considering the only must haves for me this year are Dishonored, Bioshock: Infinite and Risen 2, I can finally attack the backlog.

I'll have to read that later then. I love let's plays. If you like ultima or have not played any of the other ones before 7 then may I point you to one of my favorite video makers Spoony. He did an ultima retrospective that covers all the way up to ultima 7.mrcrusty wrote...
Darklands. Real life and my Let's Play (see sig) has kept me pretty tethered though, otherwise instead of like 3 hours of gametime, I'd have racked up 30+ hours.

http://spoonyexperim...-retrospective/ and then here's my favorite let's player that does Fallout and other games like it. He's got a new LP series coming out soon http://www.youtube.com/user/Dap642 anyway done advertising. Just my personality of liking to turn people on to things xD

Hey thanks for the links, mate.
I may check out the other Ultima games before 7, but the only other one I've got is 4 and I've gotta be honest. I think I'm too much of a graphics **** to go back to Ultima 4's graphics. So I may just check out the retrospectives after all.

Glad to hear it and I know how ya feel. I got a PS1 and Gamecube copy of Resident evil 1 and the only reason I'd play the PS1 is for the hammy voice acting. Also the older ultima games seem REALLY complicated but I never played any of them so 7s that way toomrcrusty wrote...

I personally found the fact that I had to write down my own journal and draw my own maps a much bigger barrier. Also, the combat. It is incredibly repetitive and overly simplistic. And there's seemingly no end to it. If you play Ultima 4 just once and don't want to spend the maximum amount of time playing it, do NOT recruit anyone into your party unless it's necessary. It's the difference between a >50 hour and a <10 hour play through.
Well, that and not having to take notes/draw maps. I stole some maps off the internet and didn't have to take notes on my second play through, because I had memorized where most of the NPCs and locations were.
But yes, the graphics are bad, inadequate even. That's not the developers fault of course; computers were quite limited in what they could do back then. But still. There's an unofficial VGA graphics patch upgrade circulating on the internet, though personally I don't find it much of an upgrade because of the engine limits. XU4 can help a little bit with it's filters too, but they're quite limited in their improvement again, being screenspace only.

Thanks for the tips though, I think I'll definitely take a look at some maps on the internetz if I get to playing U4. Still, I don't think my eyes could take it.
