Gmag wins once again. Bioware would be ****ing stupid not to do this.

No.

That's pointless.

The entire purpose of the extra $20 into the CE is for the extra content. You aren't getting anything for free, you're buying it in a bundle at a reduced price.

.
One thing is an artbook, soundtrack, posters, etc... other is in-game content that should be available in the standard game in the first place.
.
You make a special edition by adding to the overall package, not by reducing what you get from the standard edition.

They haven't removed anything from the standard edition, that's why it's the standard edition.

Is it just me or is the CE in the UK listed at quite a hefty price. £30 is a serious amount to pay for extra bonus content.

Is it as pricey in the US?

No, everyone still loses, except EA/Bioware.

The people who bought the Collectors edition lose because they've payed the price of a whole game for a bunch of tat and a DLC.  And the people who didn't buy the Collectors editions lose because they have to pay extra for the privilege of having a complete game.

I'm not sure what the euro-dollar conversion rate is, but it's an extra $20.

Prepare for the Reaper invasion today and secure your pre-order gear! Shrug off enemy fire with the N7 Defender Armor and its amplified shields then drop the opposition with high caliber fire from the N7 Valkyrie Assault Rifle. When the enemy has overwhelming numbers bring the M55 Argus Assault Rifle into battle and unleash rapid-fire bursts to even the odds. If the enemy gets too close, stop them dead with the AT12 Raider Shotgun and its superior firepower.

Check out the Mass Effect 3 Pre-Order Bonus Page for more details and links to screenshots and the Mass Effect 3 Gallery for new videos of the items in action and then pre-order now to make sure you are ready when the Reapers invade.

FAQ
Is the M55 Argus Assault Rifle included with the N7 Warfare Gear and Origin pre-order packs?

Yes, the M55 Argus Assault Rifle is a channel wide offer and available to everyone who pre-orders.
I don’t have a GameStop or EB Games in my country, where can I get the N7 Warfare Gear?

A full breakdown of regions and availability of pre-order offers is coming soon. You can also check with your local retailer for more information about available pre-order offers.
If I already pre-order the N7 Collector’s Edition, do I have to pre-order again to receive the pre-order items?

No, if you have already pre-ordered your pre-order will rollover and you will be automatically granted the items.
How do I unlock the items once I have pre-ordered?

Redemption methods may vary depending on platform and region. Please check with your retailer on how to redeem your pre-order content.
When will the pre-order content be available?

The pre-order items will be available on March 6th when Mass Effect 3 releases.
There seems to be some confusion due to the NA retailers listed on the page. To clarify:

GameStop customers

get the N7 Warfare Gear including the N7 Valkyrie assault rifle.
Everyone who pre-orders from any retailer

gets the M55 Argus assault rifle (so Gamestop customers who pre-order get this and the N7 warfare gear).
Origin pre-order customers
 • get the AT12 Raider shotgun and the M55 Argus assault rifle (as all pre-orders get the Argus)

This entire thread has coursed into irrelevancy. People need to understand that adding exclusive content to a more expensive collector's edition is incentive and gives credibility to paying more for the game. I find it amusing that everyone thinks that they should be granted the same everything. Sorry, that's never been how the world works. BioWare/EA isn't 'screwing' you out of anything - it's a bonus for those fans dedicated enough to go out of their way to pay more for the content.

A collector's edition wouldn't be a collector's edition if everyone could have it. Derp.

You don't think that the people willing to spend the extra money aren't the "fans"?

Man, you sure do complain a lot.

I don't think a willingness to spend an extra £40 on a DLC and a bit of tat is a necessary qualification to be considered a "fan"

It isn't paying the extra solely for the DLC. It's paying more period.

It implies a devotion.

I could care less about the DLC, I likely won't even play it until I see what the prothean looks like.

End his madness please! Promise to give him your code! Image IPB

Well it would be a pound to dollar conversion. According to Google £1 = $1.55

That doesn't seem right. Not sure I'm willing to pay £30 for that conent when all I'm really interested in is the extra character.

Game has apparently been given a monopoly, so they're going to use it to extract as much cash as possible.

Game has apparently been given a monopoly, so they're going to use it to extract as much cash as possible.

So US gamers pay an extra $20 whereas UK gamers pay the equivelent (if I've worked this out correctly) of an extra $46.

That sucks.

Pretty much.

Standard edition: ME3
Collectors edition: ME3 and an extra character

The standard edition is the complete Mass Effect story. According to the script the story doesn't change if you have the character, just like ME2's story doesn't change if you don't have Zaeed or Kasumi. Bioware wanted to reward those fans willing to fork out a bit extra by giving them an extra character. Those who don't want it, or unfortunately can't buy it (which isn't Bioware's fault) are still getting like a 30 hour game. Its still Mass Effect 3.

Yeah, it is rather silly. The reason I've pre-ordered it is that I had a bunch of Game gift cards lying around.

Apparently the price is even worse in Australia for games, so we can't complain too much.

And if you believe he is wrong I have a nice tin foil hat to sell to you.

The story is exactly the same regardless of whether you have the character. You just get a few extra lines of dialogue and some good conversations with it, but it is entirely inconsequencial.

Yep, I can't fnd collectors copies anywhere else, so I wonder how much game had to shell out for it, but £70 is steep.

If I can buy the DLC character seperately, then I'm fine with that, same as cerberus network and Zaeed if you bought ME2 second hand. The rest of the things in the CE, meh, I can live without it it's not worth £40 extra for me.

£40 is not a "bit" extra. It's more than doubling the price.

I think I'll still complain quite heartily though. Hopefully BW realises how badly international fans are getting screwed and release the extra character for individual download.

Agreed, this would suffice, the rest of it I can take it or leave it, I'm not too fussed about that.

So everyday Average Joe is more of a fan than someone willing to go out of their way to pay the extra money?

It is very annoying for us. I missed out on the ME2 CE because Amazon told me they would get it in stock but in the end they never did, and the price Game had was very high for what was much less ocntent than the ME3 CE has.

That, and we rarely get the better pre-order bonuses.

Have BW acknowledged this as a possibility? Surely they don't believe the bonus conent is worth £30 or $45

Has it even been mentioned much on here? I was shocked when checking the price and the price comparison.

Could be worse - the Austrlian price for the CE is about £85.
