I currently have a project underway that is set to launch for public  play on Friday 20 Jaunary 2012!

My server is called, quite simply, The Forgotten Realms (http://theforgottenr...motion.ca/forum) and it is a player-created, role-playing server set in the famous Forgotten Realms setting, in 1375 DR. The server is centered around Cormanthor and the  Dalelands, especially Shadowdale, Myth Drannor and Mistledale. The  gameplay immediately follows the Last Mythal trilogy of novels. What this means is that the region is just recovering from war. The elves have just begun to resettle the fabled city of Myth Drannor, although it is anything but safe yet! Mistledale and Shadowdale have just been liberated from Sembia and Zhentil Keep, respectively. Many lives have recently been lost, law and order are fragile at best, and danger is around every corner! It's definitely a time when heroes are to be made!

I have tried to focus on three distinct elements which I consider important for any game.  First, the atmosphere.  I am drawing on the fantastic work done by Ed Greenwood and the other talented writers at Wizards of the Coast.  Secondly, the visuals.  I have spent hundreds of hours hand-crafting the zones, to ensure that they are truly representative of what I envision.  Thirdly, the gameplay.  Modern MMOs have so much to offer to role-play environments, and this is my attempt to bring MMOs and Tabletop gaming together.  It is my intention to include enough quests to keep players happy, without being forced to repeat the same dozen quests over and over.

Ultimately, I intend to present a server with a rich, immersive atmosphere, both visually and imaginatively, where elements of modern MMOs, such as questing and crafting, can blend seemlessly with role-playing.  Epic levels will definitely be attainable, but they will be truly that; epic!  To get there, it'll take plenty of playing, and I hope to make the journey there a memorable and enjoyable one!

At launch, there will be no fewer than nine complete dungeons, a half dozen exterior adventuring zones, and a few dozen quests!  That's more than many well-established servers offer, and many more are already in the works!  Expect expansion as far as Cormyr, Sembia and Zhentil Keep, with all the dangers that come with them!  Gone will be the days of campfire bickering like doddering old grans!  Grab your sword or staff, and get back to the basics of Dungeons & Dragons!

So come join me on the weekend of Friday, January 20, 2012 as I launch NWN2s newest role-playing server!

* This server is completely player created, only making use of the Forgotten Realms trademarked name and setting, but claiming no relationship with Wizards of the Coast nor Atari *

Unfortunately, the release date of the server is being pushed back until February before we enter our beta phase.

The good news, though, is why it's being postponed. Since announcing my release, five very talented people have joined my team as Dungeon Masters and builders, with contributions from another. Together, we're very pleased to announce that our delay will result in a much higher quality server with many, many more options than I would have been able to provide on my own.

In addition to an expansive and engaging area focused around Cormanthor, we're very pleased to be also going beneath the surface and delving into the Underdark! Follow the drow from the shadows of the Cormanthor all the way back to the city of Maerimydra, where the matrons of the Spider Queen have recently restored their cruel authority from the failed coup by the Undying Temple! Join the forces of evil deep beneath the surface where an entirely new world awaits!

In addition, the newly formed DM team has over a century of DM and campaign setting experience! Expect quests and stories that remain true to the setting while keeping adventurers on their toes!

Is that not enough? CrystalDragon has been gracious enough to provide our players with the opportunity of playing one of the many races that inhabit Faerun! Playing a drow isn't enough for you? How about a goblin, orc, or even a drider instead? The possibilities just multiplied many times over!

I am very excited to welcome AXE, Cyurn, Dormouse, Shank and Blitz to my team! These five are going to help make The Forgotten Realms one of the most enjoyable, engaging and highest caliber of servers in the NWN2 community!

Stay tuned as we promise the wait will be worth it!
