 Hi,

always when i tried to play this game, it freezes up my computer. Sometimes even during BioWare starting up seq or during load screen after starting new game....my best shot was freez at the "Normandy destroyed" video seq, it goes like 20 sec and then....

Strange, ive played trough whole ME1 without problem. Also tried -nomoviestartup fix and it worked...ive got feeling its something with .bik files (i tried play them in bink video player without any problems) I know i could play without video seq, but dont think i could really enjoy the game.

Also tried to update every driver...dunno what to do now, sending DXDIAG...

Your laptop isnt actually designed for gaming. The GPU is actually integrated into the APU, has no dedicated memory and instead shares system RAM, and is throttled back to low speeds. It is, in essence, an entry level graphics processor that is designed for movies and spreadsheets, not3d gaming.

Set all video settings to absolute minimum and see if that solves the problem, if so, then slowly ramp up the settings until you get a balance between performance, and crashing.

OK, i tried that. Only thing is, i play Battlefield 3 on 1366x768 with low details with 35 FPS, TOTAL WAR: SHOGUN 2 medium, Assassin's Creed: Revelation medium. This notebook has TWO GPU, one integrated with CPU and second normal. And one other thing....if i(as i already said) use -nomoviestartup with MassEffect2.exe (and then skip all cinematics (.bik) in game) game works fluenty on full details. Its not computer, its something in Mass Effect, precisely with movies. Dunno what...

But thank you for your advice, im very greatful for everything

What is your other GPU then? The 6520G listed in your DX report is the one I was referring to which is incorporated into your CPU.

The one wholly integrated into the APU may be a 63-something, perhaps 6310, and it will perform a variety of Crossfire with a separate card similar to a 6450M / 6550M, and together they may get into the borderline zone where a 5570M / 5670M was. But the setup might not intended for gaming. They may have still better APUs for that. (Admittedly, it "should" be able to do better than an HD 5450 M does, and all of the APU-equipped machines have better thermal characteristics than ordinary laptops with Intel processors and HD 3000 video chips).  

Incidentally, if you have been playing with Codecs, there are several "Cleanup" utilities for sorting out Codec conflicts.

Ok, here it comes. GPU are Dual AMD Radeon HD 6755G2 (and if i get it right, one has own 512MB and the other one (integrated) is using RAM) But i find out interesting thing, If i start game in 800x600 it works absolutly fine, i can even turn on all the "deatils" to max. But in any other resolution in always freezes ahile playing these movies. Last night i played trough whole "normandy attacked" seq (with 800x600) and then change to 1366x768 resolution. In game graphics works fine, but then, when you put Joker in escape capsule its freezes.

So, don´t anyone know how to force those .bik videos to play in 800x600? When you use MassEffect2.exe properties and then put behind the "folder access" -nomoviestartup you'll skip all the movies....so, anything?

UPDATE: Well, i tried to play game in 800x600 and right after Shepard reconstruction video it freeze again. Starting to tearing hair....maybe going to buy Xbox360, so i could play even ME3
UPDATE: I still could turn off the videos, so i did itB) Now im in briefing room of new normandy, familiaring with new rooms and crew. This game rocks, just shame i cant watch those .bik movies. BTW i play it on max details on 1366x768 resolution....can anyone send me list in which order they play (playing standard camping, Council dead, etc.)? I'll play them in Bink Video player...thx

The link you provided to your laptop manufacturers specs is in czech, which I am unable to read. Could you do us a favour and post the exact model of your laptop so I can look it up on the english version of HP's website?

Also, could you also register your game on the forums so we know we are dealing with a legit version? I'm not accusing you of anything, its just so we know to rule out various known problems that are caused by the cracked files of pirated copies.

There's an APU with four cores and a superior integrated solution to anything anyone else has, plus a GPU as well. The two work as one, if the drivers are right. I never saw any answer to whether there were conflicting codec packs.

1. I played through whole Just Cause 2, got Battlefield 2, completed Mass Effect, Anno2070, Total War: Shogun2, NFS: The Run, etc..not sure if these games use .bik files, but when i download from radgametools.com Bink Video player, it plays everything OK

2. Dont get, why DXDIAG is showing only one GPU, but im pretty sure ive got dual AMD Radeon HD6755G2. And laptop is HP Pavilion dv6-6130ec Dark Umber, trying hard to find through google some english web, but only pages im getting is in czech or slovak and trying to sell me it.
3. Not going to register, never done this not starting to do this now....think whatever you want. I still dont have Facebook, it is same deal...dont like to share too much information with anyone, if it isnt required. 

4. I reinstall whole computer, instal KMPlayer (integrated codec pack) and it still freezes...if u mind, can u send me link to some other codec pack which i could use? But not sure if that is it...if playing in 800x600 resolution, it works fine. ME2 is just probably alergric to my computer or, i suppose, its just that .bik file player in ME2.
