I've honestly searched for the answer to this but haven't found any concrete answers.

Basically I have a male shep that romanced Liara in ME1. In ME2 I know that you can bed Kelly without repercussions but what I wanted to know was if you could consummate a relationship with another crewmember BEFORE completing LotSB and winning Liara back?

Or, if you consummate a relationship before LotSB, do you essentially lose Liara in the Normandy scene?

You mean, can you complete a romance with a squadmember and THEN do LotSB? Sure. If so, you're given a chance to break off that romance and get back together with Liara. (I haven't done it myself, but I believe there's a paragon interrupt or a dialogue option in there? Possibly after inviting her to the Normandy?)

Obviously, this means you have to do LotSB after destroying the Collector Base. (although I assume it'd be the same if your LI was only "locked in", so I guess you COULD do it earlier as well)

It's this part that concerns me. I've heard elsewhere that if you 'complete' a romance option before LotSB that Liara gets angry at you. Since you haven't actually done it, I can't rely on your statement that contradicts other people's statements.

This is why I posted this thread, ie. to get a concrete, absolute assurance that I won't mess up the romance with Liara by sleeping around.
